Anyone playing around with Vine yet, the new app from the creators of Twitter? Seems like a video version of Instagram where anyone can easily make and upload six second video clips.

They're having a bit of a porn-related backlash at the moment, and service is a bit spotty. Probably good PR for them as I'm sure everyone is checking it out now. ;)

It's getting a lot of media business and marketing business world buzz, very early.
Problem with those segments embracing something too early is that consumers then see the app as merely something that benefits marketers, not themselves.
I generally keep up-to-date on things but I'm getting a lot of Vine praise from the same people who told me QR codes were "what's hot". ;-)

At six seconds, most of what I've seen looks more like animated gifs than true videos.

Normally I'm not a fan of uploaded videos, either, as there's a tendency for videos to run way over the point of interest. Though kind of like the idea behind Vine as it's only 6 seconds, so the brevity leads one to put a little more thought/preparation into making the most of those 6 seconds. This is not to say there won't be a lot of bad Vine videos out there (mine included), but I think there's some creative potential there that the six second timeframe makes possible.
