Venturi, OSU to work on electric car in Columbus

An electric vehicle maker from Monaco will make Ohio State University its North American home.
The university Thursday said Venturi Automobiles will establish offices and manufacturing space on Kinnear Road for the newly formed Venturi North America. The company plans to design, engineer and make electric vehicles for specialty markets.

Venturi North America expects to employ 70 workers and be producing electric cars in Columbus in two years.
The electric vehicle maker from Monaco shed more light on its Central Ohio plans Friday, a day after it publicly disclosed its intention to set up offices and production on Kinnear Road near Ohio State University.
“We won’t invade the U.S. market right away, but we are ambitious,†said Venturi Automobiles President Gildo Pastor. “Our goal is to be a long-term business. ... We want to establish a profitable business here.â€Â
