Are these flags and ribbons ever going to be taken down? All due respect to the lives lost on 9/11, but it's been almost 10 years now. Perhaps it's time to erect a more permanent memorial to commemorate the event. Take the 10-year anniversary as an opportunity to bring closure to the mourning, remembrances, and military boosterism by folding up the flags for good.

I don't understand why Columbus should have a permanent memorial in Columbus for it to begin with.
Perhaps after we build one for Pearl Harbor we can build one for 9/11.

I like the flags.

I don't consider it "military boosterism" and I don't particularly think they need to be taken down.
A little nationalism is not inherently bad.

No, they don't need to be taken down. But why do they need to stay up?

I kind of like them. Beats staring at chain link, imho.

America, Fuck Yeah!

As long as they are maintained, I think they look good. If they are fading or showing age, then they should go.
So as long as someone is willing to keep it up, I'll continue to enjoy them.

We live near this, and our family considers this/hopes this is a permanent fixture.
This gives the origin of what we call "Flag Bridge:"

Let us know how it goes.

I think it should stay. It is a reminder of patriotism, and that we are a strong country.
There is also one at 71 & Stringtown Rd in Grove City.
I also have pix of both the bridges @ 71 & Park Rd./Main St. and 71 & Stringtown.
wildgoose- there is a First Responder's park (with a steel beam from one of the Trade Center Towers) just a mile down the street from the bridge, in front of the COTA Westerville Park and Ride just past Cleveland Avenue.

Is that due to regret?
