URBAN SCRAWL 6, AUGUST 25-26, 2012
FAD, FRANKLINTON ARTS DISTRICT
DEADLINE: JULY 31st, 2011
The Franklinton Arts District (FAD) is currently looking for artists to participate in our sixth annual Urban Scrawl event.
Urban Scrawl is a 2-day festival that features the live creation of murals by artists, artist and food vendors, as well as performances by musicians, DJs and breakdancers. The event will be held at 400 W. Rich St., a former factory warehouse that now includes artist studios, rehearsal spaces for musicians, an art gallery and Dinin’ Hall. The festival takes place on Saturday August 25th noon-10pm, and Sunday August 26th noon-6pm.
Selected artists will be given 1-2 primed, 4’ x 8’ vertical panels to create their artwork during the festival. Groups may submit an application, but must include at least one image for each individual artist. Groups may request more than two panels, but space is limited and additional panels might not be available. All selected artists are asked to be in attendance for both days of the festival. Keep in mind this is a family-friendly event, and content should be appropriate.
Some brushes as well as acrylic and latex paint will be available, but artists are encouraged to bring their own preferred supplies and painting materials. Artists may keep their panels and must pick up their panels at the scheduled time. Any panels not picked up belong to FAD and will either be weather-treated and installed around Franklinton, or sold at the annual auction.
