I thought they put in a Tattoo shop during the renovation.
That must have been what they did with the $10 million they got from the football program.

If the football program spent $10 million dollars on the library, a facility which is of no use to their players and which has no impact on their performance on the field, someone in the athletic department needs to be called to account.

Ah, the dumb jock cliche is alive and well.
Spend a little time locked in your locker in high school?

Krenzel graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in molecular genetics and a GPA of 3.75. He did research as part of a selective oncology laboratory at the Ohio State University Medical Center.[1] Krenzel was named a First-Team Academic All-American and Academic All-American of the Year, and received three Academic All-Big Ten awards, the Today's Top VIII Award, a National Football Foundation Hall of Fame post-graduate scholarship, Sporting News' Socrates Award, and the Draddy Trophy.[2]

Do you have evidence to the contrary?
What, that football players don't spend time in the library or that you weren't shoved in your locker by one?
Assuming the former, football players are held to higher GPA standards than most other extracurricular groups on campus, and are directly rewarded for academic performance (e.g. All-Academic awards). The head coach, in fact, get's a large cash bonus for insuring that all players meet those standards, which is common in the Big 10.

Frist piece of the puzzle?
Mike Stoops... D Coordinator....
Curious what happens to Fickell and Vrabel if Urban hires Stoops. There's a very good chance Stoops would be hired as a defensive assistant, and not coordinator. Many feel that Fickell is better than Stoops in that role.
Fickell could also work at co-defensive coordinator or assistant head coach.
D has always been solid the past decade. Far more interested in the offensive side.

^ If you can't get it done with that staff, then, well.....
Interestingly, Gene Smith was boo'ed at the beginning of his introduction, which was conveniently trimmed from the video above.
Nice to see Urban is already kicking knuckleheads like Dominic Clarke off the team.
Urban Meyer: 'I Know Ohio State As Well As Anybody'
Wednesday February 1, 2012 6:48 PM
COLUMBUS, Ohio - To say that Urban Meyer is driven wouldn't scratch the surface. He is a man who thrives on competition, winning and being the best of the best, 10TV's Andrea Cambern reported. After 10 full seasons as a head coach, Meyer, 47, has the tenth best winning percentage in major college football history. His record ranks as second best among current coaches. He was the only candidate interviewed for the job at Ohio State University.

I love watching that video clip and hearing the reaction for Luke Fickell ... he inherited a shitty mess when he took over for Tressel but he should feel good knowing that Buckeyes love him!
Really loving the attitude so far from Meyer. Heard a quote heading to work this morning where he basically said they aren't recruiting to redshirt kids. They want the talent that can play.
Wisconsin is also apparently bitching up a storm about him violating a "gentleman's agreement" in the Big 10 not to recruit kids verbally committed to B10 teams.
Can't wait to see how this year shapes up.
This Wisconsin debate just cracks me up to no end. Bielima said "We at the Big Ten don't want to be like the SEC--in any way, shape or form."
I'm guessing he wasn't talking about winning championships.
That attitude is why the SEC is gobbling up national titles on a yearly basis for the past decade and the Big 10 is getting laughed at. Keep it "old school" Big 10, but living through the rear view mirror isn't getting you anywhere. Thank god Urban Meyer could give a crap about these gentlemen's agreements that have been holding the conference back from competing with the SEC and smarter conferences for years.
Bielima and Dantonio need to shut up and recruit harder or go cry in a corner.
^ Exactly. Wussing out to defend some 1960s vision of football is fine if you want to lose. In Columbus we like winning, not just showing up like fans of Ivy League teams.
But don't forget about all that oversigning they do in the SEC as well.

Ohio State University’s new football coach, Urban Meyer, and his wife, Shelley, have bought an 11,700-square-foot Muirfield home for $1.45 million. The Meyers closed this month on the home, on Dunsinane Drive. It had been on and off the market since 2010. The home features seven bedrooms, four full baths and four half-baths on almost 2 acres overlooking the seventh green of the Muirfield Village Golf Club in a gated part of the Dublin community. The property also includes four fireplaces, a billiards room and an in-ground pool.
