Honestly, I find smokers and their supporters incredibly selfish. I get the argument that a business should be allowed to make the call, but at the same time, I see this argument being made for the simple fact that a small minority of the population feels that their personal habits should be tolerated everywhere, anytime. We've known for decades that smoking was harmful. There is no argument there. If we were talking about water vapor or something, this wouldn't even be an issue. But this goes to the health of every single person a smoker is around. I get the personal responsibility argument... that non-smokers have a choice where they go to patronize, but why is it *only* the responsibility of non-smokers? This entire debate seems to be about smokers' inability to accept responsibility that their personal choice is harmful to more than just themselves.
I personally have gone out to restaurants and bars SIGNIFICANTLY more often since the ban went into effect. So has just about everyone I know. And the fact that the ban has made outdoor patios more common is even better.
