An Email wrote I have The Thirsty Scholar on the market... The building that Oldfield's on 4th sits in is owned by me and is for sale as well as the bar. There are 2 huge 1 bedroom apartments above the bar. They are beautiful as well.

Man, I used to work at the Black Forest Inn back in 86-87. Some of the best times of my life were had in that building! (especially since I was running a bar at 17 years old LOL!)

If The Thirsty Scholar gets sold, I sure hope the new owner keeps Thirsty Thursdays around... let's at least all agree on that.

Well, if it's any consolation, I'd gotta guess that the pricetag on a campus bar complete with liquor license would make your sphincter tighten a bit ;)

I disagree, oldfields is probably worth what 200-30kfor the real estate, plus any inventory, or whatever else comes with a bar, so what maybe 25-50k? plus a liquor license which is what 30k? add in goodwill, and I have no idea what they do in revenues, or any of their financials, but i could see it being around 125k. I have no idea i dont know much about the bar industry so maybe around 300-350k is my 2 second guess , and you get a turnkey business as well as 2 apartments, heck you could even live above the bar in one of the apartments. So for roughly around 300-350k you get basically your own 1bedroom condo, as well as another rental unit, and a new career oppurtunity.

Core, you read correctly. What I don't know is why someone would pay over $300K essentially for a name, a license, and some equipment. If I wanted to, I could open a Thirsty Scholar-like bar under a different name and attract the same clientele withour spending $300k.

p.s. Smitt, I'm guessing (and it's purely that) the limited number of on campus liquor permits have become like gold. trading one, or selling one, at ridiculous prices.
