So, I finally started playing this game after getting a Wii and I can't help but have mixed feelings. I saw that people have mentioned the game before in other Wii threads in passing, but was surprised there was no specific thread for this game.
So anyway, my beef with the game is that it feels like a remake/remix of Ocarina of Time, and to some extent, Wind Waker. I've only been playing for about six hours, but the journey through Hyrule feels pretty similar ever since the game went 3D on the N64. The first dungeon level is even inside of a big tree.
I guess that's not a BAD thing, as the gameplay is a lot of fun, but I can't help but feel like they should be treating this series as an on-going epic story. This should be a sequel to one of the previous games, and not a re-telling of the same old land-falls-to-monster and Link must save Zelda thing.
It's not like other nintendo game series don't fall victim to this too. Mario adventures have always been the same, Starfox is always the same, and Metroid has been the same in the 2D and 3D versions.
Perhaps not everyone feels this way, and I'm sure the game is definitely a blast for anyone who hasn't played much of the older games. Maybe I'm just growing bored with non-original Nintendo game franchises.
