It's not a taco truck, but we finally stopped by the uncategorized truck(s) at the corner of Leonard and Taylor today. We got some AMAZING chicken gyros for $4! They were well worth the money. Large size, soft pita, yummy chicken, plus lots of peppers, onion, and good feta.

Question for you guys/gals who have been to way more taco trucks then I have. Have you ever seen Machaca/Carne seca http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carne_seca on any of the menus? I was having a conversation with my mother this week and she was telling me how much she loved this style of meat when she lived in Arizona.
Has anyone seen this in columbus?

Has anyone seen this in columbus?I *think* the place near Mt Carmel West (Chapis?) had this. We stopped briefly during Bike the C-Bus and had to ask what that was.

There will also be a segment about taco trucks and Night of 1001 Tacos on channel 6 at noon.

A.Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to head over there and see if they have it. My mom would be really stoked for sure.

Of course, there's always the stand at 5th and Forsythe next to the Mexican grocery and Vic's. It's proved to be a staple for me when in the mood for some good and rather inexpensive eats. They've opened it up again:
http://tacotruckscolumbus.com/2009/11/02/taqueria-davanne/I think that truck has always had tasty chorizo. I'll bet it's the same stuff they sell inside the market. I've bought it a few times...yummy stuff.

Any luck finding it? Chapis seems to have closed again - not sure how long for. A lot of the trucks have cecina which is 'dried beef'. Not the same -- but might be worth trying if you haven't.

Has anyone considered the carbon footprint these fossil fuel guzzling meat selling behemoths are leaving behind during this man made Global Warming Crisis?
A Taco Truck is the perfect avatar of all that is wrong with Capitalism.
Won't anyone think of the children?

Won't anyone think of the children?(I know you're kidding, but...) the vast majority of the trucks don't move - some aren't even trucks per se, but actually stationary trailers. Gas guzzlin' they ain't. They use far less energy than a sit down restaurant, as there's no place to sit down and therefore no need to heat/air condition that square footage (which in restaurants is 2+ times the size of the kitchen). And... the kitchens themselves are a small fraction of the size of most non-mobile kitchens. Meat? Well, sure, but no more than in most restaurants and often quite a bit less.
Probably best to go to plan B - they took er jerbs!

Coming back from the Banana Leaf dinner tonight, I saw the Don Pedro Taco Truck was open next to the Garden Inn, 6091 Cleveland Ave. Open until 10:30 most nights. Out of lengua tonight.
His wife and three daughters were out there, as sweet as can be. They should get busy after lent ends this Sunday.
