OK, so I'm just now figuring this stuff out (I know, bit late). I'm really seeing strange results in my downloading though. Like right now, I have 1 going at 140 KB/s and 3 others going at 4 KB/s.
Anyone have advice on searching for torrents, finding fast ones, clients, etc.?

It's a simple search that will find torrents through dozens of other popular torrent sites.
Torrent files/streams/networking works in a different way than other peer-to-peer protocols. Might want to read up on it some to understand how it works and how you can optimize the speed of connection and downloading.

I'll tell ya what Nd, so far it's kind of kicking Limewire's ass though, and I haven't done anything fancy. Basically installed Bittorrent, and search on either torentspy.com or torrentz.com for what I want, then it's just click and it opens right in Bittorrent and starts downloading.
If I can figure out the tweaks to speed it up, it'll be cool, but I'll tell ya I'm getting a 4.1 gig file in 10 total hours today which isn't too bad!

Like put it in stupid computer user language for me...
Step 1 - Download and install "Bittorent", from where though?
Step 2 - Find sites like torentspy.com or Oink and search for the files I want?
Step 3 - Download what I want.
What am I missing???

OK...first, get it here http://www.bittorrent.com/download
when you install it, it's a standalone program BUT works with explorer or firefox or whatever.
so, when you then go to let's say torrentspy.com and search for...hell, I don't know..."furry"...you get a list of links with descriptions.
Pick one and click it, it will open a page for that torrent. Select "Download Torrent" and it will automatically open Bittorrent and start downloading it.
That's about it, although I'm guessing there's a lot of tweaking you can do that I don't know about yet.

honestly hard to come by. because the whole premise is youre responsible for the people you give invites to (as you are to the people who invited you)... you have a user rating and the more you download without uploading (were talking whole albums generally, or whatever programs or movies and such) the more your rating falls... and you get penalized as does the person who invited you.
but its pretty great because you can find nearly every album and download them in minutes... (and there arent any viruses, unlike limewire)

Try using VLC, it comes with most common codecs.
Yeah, VLC is quality, or picking up a K-Lite Codec pack. That'll take care of most any file you could ever want to watch.
