I was forced to watch Top Gear the other night (I believe as punishment for So You Think You Can Dance), but it ended up being one of my new favorite time wasters. It comes on BBC America and it's awesome.

Alec loves Top Gear. Scratch that - he LOVES Top Gear. He will go on endlessly abut stuff he learned from it. Gordon Ramsey is his hero not just for being a great chef, but for having the fastest lap (for a while) on TG and for swearing a lot.
We looked into getting tickets for while we were in London, but they weren't taping.
Some of their challenges are hilarious. My fav was the boat vs SUV vs bike to get to Heathrow.

Ooooh, I must find the one with Gordon Ramsey, I <3 him something terrible!
The first episode we watched was where they bought three cars and had them do all these stupid stunts. Every time they counted the # of bits that fell off the car I laughed so hard I cried!! They're so mean to each other, it's great!!! It wasn't until yesterday that it was explained to me this was a real car show, like the Brit's version of Car and Driver!! I thought it was just a comedy show with a bunch of guys who like cars :)

Oh yeah, dude found the whole episode online for me, I'm just not computer smarts enough to know where it was and link that :)

So I just discovered this a few weeks ago and am hooked! The three guys are hilarious and I love the challenges. If you didn't catch the one last week where they had to drive 1000 miles through the Amazon to the Pacific Ocean in cars they bought for $2000 you must. Awesome TV!

If you like Top Gear, definitely try to find the episode from a few years ago where the guys drove through the American South.
By the way, Jeremy Clarkson is hilarious.

My 8 year old started dee-vee-are-ing Top Gear and because of a scheduling conflict or whatever the missus & I watched it and couldn't stop. My gearhead kinda brother hadn't seen it before, and now he is hooked, too1

Top Gear (and Good Eats) tempts me to get cable again. I suggest the episodes that test if it's faster to drive or faster to take another form of transportation. Ex. Faster to drive or cruise via boat from Top Gear studios to Oslo...or the Heathrow episode mentioned earlier;-)
