Going to Kevin's restaurant in April.
I dare you to order something non-pig while there. ;)

There was only one pig main listed on the menu. I was surprised. It will be hard to not order it.
He is also opening a BBQ joint later this year. Two whole Berkshire hogs + rotating sides, closes when runs out of food.

Nice! :D

I'm drooling now. Thanks! :)
Not from Season 6, but Richard Blais has a joint called FLIP Burger Boutique in Atlanta (and Birmingham.) We packed away quite a substantial lunch there today.
This was one of the best renditions of casual food done with extra ambition. All grass-fed beef w/ creative toppings like kimchee ketchup and Korean BBQ. Great fries w/ a smoked mayo. Vodka onion rings. Tempura asparagus. "Buffalo" sweetbreads.
Alas, they were not making the milkshakes with liquid N2 as there is a bureaucratic snafu worrying about the health effects of an ingredient that makes up most of our air. Still, the Krispy Kreme milkshake was a like you'd think. Turtle and nutella were also good.
The real hit was the A5 burger made with Kobe beef and topped with foie. What made it work more than similar burgers I've had (like at Hubert Keller's burger bar) was the addition of a red wine syrup and house-made pickles which provided a needed acidity and tang. Well worth its price tag.
According to Alec, we are going back tomorrow.
We have dinner at Kevin's Woodfire Grill tomorrow as well.

Way jealous. Richard and Kevin were both fun contestants to root for, they just seemed like aall-round good guys. Post up after you visit Woodfire Grill.
AWESOME! Thanks for that report, Andrew. FLIP sounds really impressive, and I spent some time drooling over the menu last night. It looks like their Birmingham location is about 500 feet off the highway on the route we take to visit my family in Alabama, so that will definitely be a stop on our trip next time we head down that way (probably this summer sometime). Looking forward to trying it out! :D
Blais was probably my favorite contestant from any of the seasons so far, and that place sounds awesome - definitely going to have to try and make a stop there next time we're passing through Atlanta -thanks for the write-up.
Let us know how the Woodfire Grill shapes up too!
Woodfire is good, not great. Best things were actually the veg accompaniments to the main proteins. 'Smokey greens' in particular. I think the restaurant would optimize Kevin's skills ( though the focus predates him) with more of a Craft style instead of composed dishes. The actual dishes themselves were weaker than some of the cookery.
The food represents something I've often noticed with comments on TC. There is a clear split between people who view restaurant cuisine with a home cook's eye and those who look for something beyond. Woodfire will appeal to the former as it really is what a home cook could dream of doing.

I just saw that Kevin won Top Chef Fan Favorite, so his total winnings on the show was $55,000. nice!
