Really enjoying this season of Top Chef. I think the next few episodes will not be too exciting since we already know of a handful of chefs with no chance of beating the ones you all listed.
I enjoyed the escargot and frog legs this past week! Hell's Kitchen needs to mix it up like this. HK always has the same old, same old.
I do miss some of the characters from last season.

It seems to be at that weird point where there are clearly favorite chefs (for audience appeal) and clearly super talented chefs, and (just as with Project Runway) the producers have to decide how much talent vs. market appeal will sway who goes and who stays.

So, my streak is intact. It turns out that we dined at Tilth in Seattle when Ashley was there. Was a pretty good meal. Glad to see she's kicked up her game from the earlier lameness.
I am so sick of the "I make simple food" shit. You are a fucking chef! Home cooks can do 'simple and good.' You need to do what I can't get at home. I lost respect for Michy. If you read the TC blogs, everyone was in awe of <forgot name> Voltaggio brother's dish in the QF. The respect of one's peers really says something. I think it was a pretty clear choice for the dwa-ma, not for the food.
We are seeing some of the best food ever from TC. Elena is angling to go to a TC chef restaurant in NYC tonight. Will update if she does. She did eat at Blue Hill last night whose farm restaurant was a setting for one of the eps in previous. Fan-fucking-tastic, she said.

Agreed generally, but especially agreed on the p.s. I thought that was a really stupid comment to make.
We always feel compelled to cook an extra special meal on TC nights. You know, so that we don't feel pitiful during the episode.

A few of those seasons, I thought that I might have a chance against some of those chefs. This year is really tough - there are about six people who are extremely good, another 3 that are pretty darn good and the rest you knew were sacrificial lambs right away. I'm shocked that the mushy paella guy was still around until this week.

Can't believe that cancer lady and fatty big sideburns are still around! It's a really good season, but I'd rather see some more traditional kitchen challenges. You don't really learn as much about these chefs when they have to use woks plugged in in the dining room or campfires. Also, I want to punch Mike Isabella in the nards. He's a fine chef, but really annoying.

Oh, and Walker: I caught the most recent episode on Hulu. They've only got one full episode up at a time, along with some other clips. There was some legal lingo about not being able have more than two episodes worth of content up at any one time.

Yeah, the "extreme" challenges are taking away from the high-end nature of the show a little bit. Put them in a fully stocked kitchen and let them show their talent... sink-or-swim.
Mike has got to go!!! He basically makes the same f-ing dish for every challenge. He only knows how to work with 4 ingredients.

Honestly, I'd be happy at this point if they eliminated everyone but Kevin and Jennifer and had them just keep going head to head for another 8 episodes or whatever.
Still some good talent left in the Volt Bros and Mike Isabella (as rude as he is) though.

The show can only stay on the air if it gets good ratings. I think they have to incorporate "zany" challenges a bit, like-it-or-not, to keep a wide market appeal. Granted, a lot of foodies watch the show and would love to see them REALLY showcase their talent in the kitchen, but they have to strike a balance and make it also appeal to "Linda" or "Joe" out there who want to see the curveball type stuff.
I honestly think they do a pretty good job of making the show fun while still keeping integrity.

Mike V, Kevin, and Jennifer as the final three will be one of the best finishes ever, IMO. They've all got distinct styles that are in a bit of contrast to each other, but are also clearly top notch talent.
I'm kind of meh on Isabella. He's pulled off some good stuff, and he's also failed to impress several times. K&J haven't missed a beat, and the only time Mike V seems to have missed he did have the whole electricity issue.

Both the Volt Bros. are really talented, but in the end I think Kevin or Jennifer will win. Kevin seems like he handles the stress the best and I think Jennifer may have the best pure skills.
I actually want the older of the Volt brothers to go out soon so he doesn't get too famous. He is from Fredrick, MD (same town as about 10 of my aunts, uncles, and cousins). I would love to go to his restaurant next time I'm out there, but I have a feeling that from this point forward it's probably pretty tough to get a table.
