The cheftestant bios are now up at http://www.bravotv.com/top-chef/bios
Interesting that there are three Ohio natives in this round but none who stayed in-state. All in all, it looks like another interesting season ahead.

Interesting, they look like serious contenders too on paper at least. So is Ripert a full time judge now?
Hooray for Top Chef! Something to ease the pain of LOST being over! :D
Caught the season premier last night. I thought it was great!
Angelo kicked ASS and I always like the silly prep type challenges as shown in the quick fire challenge.
Those guys were breaking down those chickens with incredible speed, I thought I was fast.
I was bummed to see this seasons muppet (John) go home, he seemed pretty passionate.
Good episode and start to the season.
Angelo was impressive, but comes off like a cocky prick. I even noticed whenever he was talking to anyone he'd have his arms crossed against his chest.
Kenny seemed equally impressive, yet humble. Much easier to root for, like Kevin from last season.
I wanted to see more of John, as he reminded me of Carla (Fraggle Rock, put "love" in it lady). Whenever he was just standing there he'd have this goofy, weirdo smile that had me cracking up. His dessert idea was more than boneheaded though.
Looking forward to next week!
See they're trying to have Angelo be Mr. Cocky this year, even went so far as to have the mobile survey, but I didn't really see him as all that cocky at all. Certainly not compared to past participants.
Also, when it came on - Top Chef is rated TV14? That's dumb. I mean I guess they cuss some but if I had a 10-12yo interested in cooking I'd absolutely want them to watch it.
Yeah, I thought the quickfire last night was pretty cool. I don't know why, but I'm never a fan of the catering challenges.
One of the down-sides to giving up our cable. This will be the first season of Top Chef I'll miss in several years... :(
Tried watching Top Chef Masters on Hulu, but they only posted select episodes; don't know if it wil be the same for Top Chef.
This is the first year in a while that I have no experience with any of the chefs.
There were exactly two dishes last night I'd consider serious - Angelo's winning dish and the deconstructed borscht. (And Angelo's quickfire dish which was an obvious winner w/ doing something creative w/ potato.) Kenny's dish looked tasty, but there was a clear separation from the other two.
Tim will be interesting to watch. He has some of the most serious chops in the game having done major time with one of the godfathers of cuisine in the US, Jean-Louis Palladin. I remember Tim doing a show on way old Food Network when they had a weekly rotating chef show.
I hope the dramaz they show in the preview where the chefs are less-than-collegial is an aberration, not the rule. Vegas was the best season for the lack of reality-TV gaming.
I am really looking forward to the farm dinner episode.
Alec and I were talking about the show today and he was idly hoping some of his favorite chefs would do the show. We came to the realization that Top Chef emphasizes a certain style of cooking and "chefiness" which isn't really what makes for great restaurants (Last season being the exception.) The truly great chefs and restaurants have a deeper commitment and appreciation of the long-term process which produces truly great food. I'd love to see a show where the challenges are long-term - a challenge is issued and the chefs return a month, a year later having thought, experimented and engaged in the commitment to their food by making charcuterie or preserves or whatever.
A.
I did watch a show last night about this woman Padma. There may have been cooking, I'm not sure.

It's posted on Hulu. I just watched it. They post the morning after it airs.
Andrea was idiotic to not bring a strainer with her and she should know that you can't bring recipes with you. I remember a couple seasons back someone got in trouble for having a recipe book. Some of these chefs seem really young to be competing on this show and their inexperience usually gets them into trouble.
I think Eric Ripert will be there the whole season judging.
As much as I wanted to like John, you just don't enter a cooking competition by consulting a wardrobe expert. You're wearing chef coats, for heaven's sake!
Excuse my brief absence of maturity, but last night I couldn't shake the thought of wanting to motorboat Padma every time she popped on the screen.
Uh-may-zing.
=X
We really shouldn't talk about the physical attributes of the contestants or Cookie will get pissed.
But yeah, Padma's DSL's, woowee!
Seems like most of the drama is off-camera so far, so that's all being played up in the editing room. Though I can't say Angelo was sending out the best vibes otherwise. I guarantee that he'll bust out a "I didn't come here to make friends" before the season is over.
I thought Kenny was impressive in almost totally dominating the quickfire. Definitely like his demeanor so far. Plus he kinda looks like Isaac Hayes.
Was also kind of expecting Alex to win with the borscht. Seems like a strong contender.
Glad this show is back on!
Our budding chef watched the show with us and made us several chicken dishes while it was on. :)
Sorry guys, just read Padma is with DAVID SPADE!

No kidding. He even had Carla's crazy eyes. The dredlocks grossed me out, though.
