No. I would like to tho. But are there tickets?
I also would just like free tickets.

Hmm... I didn't arrange for my tickets, so I do not know the answer to your questions.

i was there, and it was good. the second band was quite good also... i dont know why i got to the show early enough to see the opening band, but they were rubbish.

No one gave me free tickets. Weird.

I thought this thread was going to be about a new font.

I'm going to start calling bands "fonts".
There's this new Metallica cover font. Have you heard them?

If I'd known you'd wanted to go... :)
The show was OK. I got there a little late, so just saw the end of the second band and Times New Viking. I enjoyed both bands, the second band (The Ponys?) seemed to be having a Replacements moment, but since I like the Replacements, that was OK by me. Also liked Times New Viking, songs are catchy and fun... but do have issues with the singing... the screetchy disharmony just didn't work for me. I have to go back and listen to the recordings to compare live vs. studio.

i agree with that. also, i dont know if i was just out of it, but it seemed like every song didnt last more than 2 minutes... for any of the bands. it was probably me though.

Most of TNV's songs clock in under two minutes.
I enjoyed the show. I thought it was endearing and fun.

I really enjoyed TNV's portion of the set. They're definitely noisy. And their songs are all really short. (Present the Paisley Reich was only about 16 minutes on the vinyl version.)
But I really like them.
I think that they aren't a band that you're necessarily going to pick up right off the bat. I think that they require you to actively listen to their albums a few times before you really appreciate some of the complexity that is going on underneath all of the noise.
Having seen them before, one of the things I had always liked about their live show is the amount of energy that they bring. Because the songs are so short I think, they rock out with manic intensity usually. Given that aspect of their performances, I think playing at the Wex actually detracted a bit from the show.
This was the first show I went to at the Wex, and I have to say, the space is great in and of itself. I thought it wasn't too big, not too small, good sightlines and good acoustics. But something seemed to be missing, a certain, je ne sais qua, that took the show down a notch from previous times i've seen them. Part of it I think is that there was a reserved sense from the crowd, they seemed to be observers rather than participants. Maybe this was because it was at an art museum and not a bar, so you're missing a bit of the drunken abandon.
But I think more so, it seemed that people were there passively observing a piece of art. Much like you would a scuplture or painting. And to an extent, that's great, because that's what it is art. But it's also participatory. And without that, a bit of the energy and essence is lost.
But what do I know.
I saw patradio and HeySquare at the show, always cool to run into CUers outside of official meetups.
