Anybody know what the deal was last night (where pre-ticketed folks were lined up along Broad all the way to I-71 until about 12:30 -- after Tiesto had already gone on-- while buy-at-the-door folks got right in)?
Props to CPD who eventually said "cut the crap and let these people in already".

I know in the past I've had problems with their will call. They don't have a credit card scanner or anything, they just have a list of names w/envelopes. Makes it a much longer process. At Red Zone for these types of events, they just had a card scanner.

oversold maybe, and the early arrivals of buy at the door folks got in immediately, while the late arriving pre-purchase guys were getting the "we're too full"?
Either way, that is pretty f'ing stupid.

I did not work this event but my guess would be that since the number of presales (1600 I heard) were far larger than the walk ups that the sheer numbers didn’t synched. That is the only drawback to buying presales for huge events as I have seen this happen at many venues and events. I also think that it’s just hard to get that many people throw the door; having to check ID’s, etc. The clubs in other cites sometime have multiple lines with people checking ID’s. The layout of the BoMA may make that impossible because the entry way is relatively small.
But yeah, the line was crazy. I got there early (thank God) and saw it going down 71.

I just remember when BOMA 1st opened, The owner guy who worked at Studio 54 said he would rather have 50 cool people inside and 500 lined up outside waiting to get in (paraphrasing from the article in the other paper)...

This show was amazing. I've waited 10 years to see Tiesto and it did not disappoint.
I've been to Boma more than a few times when they were a nightclub and it was visually a great venue for this with the ambience, but if this is going to be an events only venue, the entry thing needs sorted out QUICK. I waited in line over 2 hours in the freezing cold to get in and I already had a ticket. I don't know if it was staffing, a lack of clear cut lines (people were coming from every direction), or just the small door, but this was ridiculous. More bathrooms will also be necessary if over selling becomes policy for these types of shows. It was a great experience overall, and the bar staff was pretty fast considering the attendance. But ticket holders taking 2 hours to get in and wasting half the show to take a leak are major problems.
In line I kept thinking I would rather this have been an indoor show at the LC, shitty buckets of beer and all.

That's true but BoMA still maintains a staff of 25+ to manage ops, work the door/security, bartend, etc etc. It's certainly to their benefit to get people inside the door where they can begin making money off of them. People outside the venue aren't doing BoMA any good at all. The promoter(s) likely make the bulk of their money off ticket sales and door charges. In theory, pre-sale ticket holders waiting in a line makes no difference to the promoter, he already has your money....but the bar needs ya!
