This past weekend my family came in from out of town and we ate at Juergen's Bakery and Restaurant in German Village. We'd thought about Schmidt's but wanted something smaller with no wait time on a Sunday at noon.
Not only did my family's German foreign exchange student say that the food was totally authentic and well-prepared, but the staff at the restaurant went above and beyond to offer us good service. They brought heaping complimentary plates of a variety of fresh breads along with our meal, made excellent recommendations for my vegetarian sister, and even gave us three free bags of croutons when they brought the check.
The goulash was fantastic and the poppy-seed pastry I ordered for dessert disappeared quite quickly as everyone reached across the table for one bite, and then another.
It's not often that I receive such exemplary service and delicious food for such reasonable prices so I wanted to give Juergen's a public thumbs up.
