Does anyone know when this opens in Columbus? It is frustrating to see it on every "critics top movies of 2007 list" and not be able to see it myself! It just came out in NY and LA. The date I've heard is January 11th, but I haven't really been able to confirm it.

I'd be curious too... looks like it'll be a good one.

Drexel Gateway website has it listed as a Jan. 18th opening. Damn, that's gonna be a crazy movie weekend with Cloverfield also opening. The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (I've read nothing but good things about it) opens that day at Drexel East.

The 18th is also Cloverfield day. :D

I think I maybe the only person on the planet not that excited for Cloverfield. Not that I won't see it.

+1
Won't see it in theaters I'd guess, will decide if it's worth downloading or waiting for HBO later.
I will, however, see There Will Be Blood.

I'm not excited for Cloverfield. I can't do these "looks like a handheld camera shakey picture" shots anymore. I almost vomited last night watching "I Am Legend" and that one wasn't even really that bad.
I mourn the demise of the steadycam!!!

Pretty sure the Columbus release is the 18th.
There's a special (find a pass) screening of it January 15th @ the Drexel Gateway.

Saw another preview for it tonight when we went to see Atonement. I asked the person behind the counter if they knew when they'd have it and they couldn't give me an answer.
I'm not sure which markets have it now. I know it was just LA and NY shortly after xmas. It was especially frustrating for me to see the Other Paper have this movie on their top 10 list. Doesn't seem very fair!

It's playing in Cleveland.

Also, it is not playing in Cincinnati, Dayton, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, Detroit, or Louisville. Playing a few places in Chicago.

Just read an article about Daniel Day Lewis (who I think is amazing) and this role, can't wait or this to come out. He literally prepares for years before a role, which is why he does so few films.

Got the weekly email from the Drexel Theaters, evidently it opens on the 18th, and will be exclusively at the Gateway.
I don't know if that means the only place in town, or exclusively at the Gateway within the Drexel chain. I guess I assumed it meant that the Gateway would be the only place in town showing it.

You assumed right - Gateway has the exclusive on the 18th, but if the movie does the kind of business it's been doing elsewhere and it gets a lot of Oscar nods when they're announced Jan. 22, it'll likely expand to other theaters after the first week.
FYI, Alive's website is giving away passes that'll be good for any Mon-Thurs show of "Blood" at the Gateway.

I saw There Will Be Blood last week (benefit of living in S.F.). I hate to over hype it but it was pretty flawless. The acting, music, directing and story are all amazing. Im looking forward to seeing it again soon. Hopefully with such an early release it will be remembered at next years Oscars as it is definitely worthy of many awards.

I'll have to agree. The movie was GREAT. The opening scenes are great, and the ending, classic. Daniel Day-Lewis did a SUPERB job. I give it 4 stars.

Yeah, I'm trying not to get too excited for it, but I've been wanting to see it since I saw previews in September. I believe that since they got it out in NYC and LA before the New Year, it is elgible for the Oscars in March.
