Are there any estimates for home much these are going to cost? The drawings look great and I'm glad to see the Short North is developing more!

@JayR They are apartments not condos and I think they will rent for $900-$1200. That's just a guess though. If you call the Wood Companies you might get better info.

Unfortunately, zpizza will be closed for a few days. The construction project above us caused a leak and the water damage will take some time to clean up. We hope to be back serving you by Wednesday, September 21st. Thank you for your understanding and support!

Thanks Walker and mrsgeedeck. We are working hard to get open again but it's amazing the damage that water can do. We are not going to meet our goal of being open again today. It's honestly looking like another week or more. Thanks to all of our loyal customers who have continued to call and stop by. Don't give up on us, we will be back soon!

We are officially back open. It was a rough few weeks but the restaurant looks great and we are happy to be serving our loyal customers again. Thanks to Anne and Walker for helping to get the word out, and for stopping in for dinner!

Wood Companies New Short North Apartments Going Skyward
By: Walker
If you’ve been to the Northstar Cafe or zpizza in The Short North lately, then you’ve probably noticed the construction occurring at 937-951 North High Street. The Wood Companies are in the process of adding three additional stories of apartment units on top of the existing building in a manner somewhat unique to Central Ohio. The ground floor retail businesses are able to stay open throughout the construction period, and the neighborhood will gain an additional 24 apartment units in 2012.
We spoke recently with Mark Wood, President of The Wood Companies, to find out more about this new neighborhood development.

the south facing wall arising over Paradise Garage appears to be a 2-story, solid surface, which would make for a great mural space to replace the ones being lost when the Joseph rises.

^^Great idea. Actually, there are a couple dozen blank walls by my account throughout the SN that could use a mural. Since the neighborhood has lost many of its art galleries, to make up for it, I would like to see more of a push for public art to make for a visually stunning south <> north trek down High St. It's time to bring the gallery from the inside out. As a side note, it looks like, with that blank wall, they anticipate maybe future apts from another developer next door above the PG space.

I believe that is going to be a stairway and will be enclosed by another apartment

^the Paradise Garage building next door is actually a barrel vaulted roof. it would require a significant amount of work to build on top of it. moreover, i do believe it is an entirely separate property from the one Wood Co is currently building on top of and is not included in any of the sketches.

At some point in the future (who knows exactly when) the PG site will become too valuable to remain a 1 story building. It will be torn down and redeveloped along with the strip center next door.

must be the angle of the picture then but I'll check it out tomorrow

World's slowest construction project.

It's always slow if you watch it progress every day. If you only see it once a month, it *flys* up. ;)
