All,
I am here to propose we take on a group hang out. And as a recommendation I am going to throw out Garage Bar. Why? Because it needs our help. because it's cool and trying to be different in an area that is generally not. Because I met the owner and GM tonight and they are cool. Because it's a Cleveland bar trying to make it big. And because I said so. tomorrow night. garage Bar. Be there!!!!!

Another excellent option for a C/U clubhouse is the Main Bar. It's usually pretty empty and we could literally take it over :twisted:

I am def. up for going to Garage Bar, plus I've only met like 2 people on here in person so it would be great to finally put a face to a name. Saying that, just from talking to some of my friends I can give you why they haven't gone there yet.
When we walked by, just from glancing in, it looks like not much has changed (not that the interior is bad). I just think they really need to do something to the exterior of the building to draw people in. Right now I feel like you can almost walk by it and not realize you missed the bar. Just my thoughts.

If it has room to actually find a seat, decent parking for those of us outside of walking distance and a reasonably priced drink menu, I'd be happy to give it a shot. The patios are going to be chilly soon enough.

Well, yesterday there were about 50 empty chairs, the stone parking lot was empty, and for 2 people we left with a $24 tab which included 2 shots. Not bad at all!

The Cleveland location always has bikes lining the street along the side of the bar. Don't think they have room for that at the Columbus location though.
I had to break my self-imposed Park Street bar ban last weekend to meet some friends at Park Street Patio. I was so tired from judging people all night that I slept like a baby when I got home.

Sounds like Garage Bar has the potential to be an oasis in a sea of pretension. As I've only been to Spice once, and that was for my first CU meetup, I have no idea what the club scene is like here.

It's tough work! That's why you need to start out slow and gradually build up a tolerance. I can now render judgements in about 1/4 of my old best time from last year.
In related news, I read that the Garage Bar has a delightful selection of cheap, shitty beer (which if you know me, is right up my alley). So I'm definitely up for checking it out. I can't imagine tonight being that night, but I've done more ill-advised things before.

I wonder if the "theme nights" are the same here as the Cleveland location. I like the ideas there if they are done well.
If the inside of my stomach didn't still taste like beer, I'd definitely be up for seeing if Columbus does "grunge night" on Thursdays. I could be happy getting tipsy and reliving the early 90's. :)

That sounds like the general consensus of the Park Street bars. No one has ever been to any of them, but everyone loves to talk about how awful they are.
I'd say that looking down your nose at something you admit that you know nothing about is the very definition of pretension.
That being said, I'm fully confident that the CU-Crew can have a good time hanging out anywhere. :D

I've been to all the Park Street bars...except for Callahans...and Garage since it's new.
I shall therefore always reserve the right to say that I think they suck. :)
I do like Park Street Tavern though. I can be pretty happy there drinking beer and listening to live music and playing pool (badly)
