I was skimming through today's TOP list of "The Best of 2008", and I couldn't find a single entry that doesn't make it into the annual list of Top Stuff put out by The Dispatch, Alive, Columbus Monthly, etc. Are the same people filling these things out? Is El Vaquero really the universal best Mexican acccording to the readership of every single one of these publications? Happy Greek? Thurman's? City BBQ? Cheesecake Factory?
Am I the only one yawning through this? Are people who read all of these publications really as boring as they sound? :?

No offense to Robert Duffy, but thank goodness. That website (but I guess really just the forums since all I read are the links Lew sends me) makes my head hurt and it's not just the ridiculous avatars! I don't know how many times I've said to her, "See, it could be worse, Walker could be dealing with that..." :lol:

It was unpredictable, with some of the winners, while others (Undone, Easton, First Watch, a few others), were no-brainers (like, duh? I'm not stoopid, Other Paper).

I am very happy to have found my way to this forum.
I think Mr. Duffy does a nice job on the blog part of donewaiting but those message boards do the blog a huge disservice. They are horrible. He should either nuke em or start moderating.

The problem with these sort of polls is that the winners are not necessarily the "best", they are the most well known.
So if the category is "open mic night", most people know only one - at the Thirsty Ear. They shouldn't vote for that if they don't know of another one to compare it to and vote for the best of the two. But they have to fill out that blank.
So you get a list of the most well known, not the best. Big difference.

I don't know, I've had more than my share of feuds over on DW, but I still enjoy reading it. There's some pretty intelligent and funny posters over there (many cross-post here) who I enjoy, and Duff has always been cool. I think it's just a very different animal than C/U.

Yeah, I wasn't trying to say anything negative about him just as I don't think Walker is lame for some of the ridiculous BS that gets posted over here sometimes (I don't think I need to spell this out to anyone). I do think if more of the DW chicks came over here and "took care of business" as they do on DW it would certainly make some of the interactions more interesting, lol. Give Ndcent some help ladies, but leave your avatars at home :lol:
