yeah... you can't underestimate the humble stationwagon...
The older saturn SW2 series station wagons are actually the same engines/suspension/tranny as their sport coupe model with the exception of the body shape. It's a sports car in disguise. The thrust to weight ratio (with the 5 speed manual tranny) is fantastic even with only 120 horses under the hood 'cause the car only weighs 2400 lbs and most of it sits right on the drive wheels!
I'm going to have a lot of trouble finding another car I like this much if it ever dies.I have some friends in another state who had two of these gems. One night, some drunk asshole plowed into one of them (they live in a little town, kinda on the main drag and park out front), and rammed the car into the side of the house, where the bedrooms are, taking the brunt of the hit, and seriously slowing the drunk asshole. That car saved their lives. Good car.

They were annoyed about the house damage and happy everyone lived - but DEVASTATED about the car. They actually had a ceremony.

Wagons are awesome. I think the station wagon stigma is over. The latest models are sharp looking, sporty, and functional. The minivan stigma remains however. No other style says, "I just don't give a fuck"
Bye Bye Hummer. Never saw the allure.

Bye Bye Hummer. Never saw the allure.I also note that I get passed by minivans on the highway as much or more than I pass them. Soccer moms have places to be in a hurry, it seems. At least, I hope that's the explanation. Otherwise, I'd feel obliged to remind them that they're driving a minivan, and just because they're going 85 doesn't make them any cooler.
