I am interested in signing up for the Greener Grocer's Winter/Summer Weekly bag. As such, does anyone on here currently do this or have experience with this? I would really like to try it out! Do you have to order it every week, or can you order it once every two weeks? And, for a single person like myself, would a medium size bag last me about 1.5-2 weeks or should I go for a large bag every 2 weeks? Any info would be appreciated!

Hi Tyler,
When you say "do you have to order it every week" do you mean "do you have to place an order every week" or "do you have to have it delivered every week?"
If you're asking whether you have to place an order every week -- no. I think the most common way of ordering is to pay once every six weeks, via PayPal.
If you're asking whether you have to have it delivered every week... I'm pretty sure there's no every-other-week plan, but the medium bag would probably last a week (depends on how many veggies you eat!), so having one of those a week could work out well. Fresher that way too.
As to trying it out --you can cancel or adjust at any time, so if you try it and decide it's not working it's easy to make a mid-course adjustment.

If anyone has used it, I'd also like to know about how many people a medium bag/large bag fees per week, assuming they're moderate to heavy veg eaters.I know there are other threads about CSAs, but I'm considering Greener Grocer's weekly bag as an alternative; I'm leery of the financial commitment of a CSA w/o have previous experience.

We've subscribed to a medium bag for our two person household. And although we're meat eaters, I think the medium bag could tide a vegetarian over for about 1/2 a week.
Actually here's a sample of a meal plan I put together based on the bag, items in parenthesis were from the bag:
Thurs-Stir Fry (bok choy, ginger, lemongrass)
Friday-pizza
Saturday-(kale) and white bean soup
Sunday-leftovers
Monday-eye of round roast (carrots, turnips)
You also occasionally get grains, cheese and eggs in the medium bag which rounds things out nicely.
For us, I've noticed we spend a lot less at the grocery store now. I'll pick up the bag from Greener Grocer, then stop at Blues Creek or The Fish Guys or NM Poultry and game for meat and I'm done shopping for the week. With the cost of the bag, I'd say we're spending about $40.00 for two people on groceries.

i asked this question on an older thread about the greener grocer-- i am glad that someone else asked it because i was afraid that it wouldn't get any light!
when i went to the greener grocer last wknd for groceries, the friendly staff explained that the medium bag is good for someone (one person) who usually packs lunch and cooks dinner every day (i take lunch to work every day and cook at home most evenings during the week). however, a lot of people apparently split the medium sized bag with a friend as it may be too much for one person.

I was thinking of going down to the North Market tomorrow after church to ask them about the bag sizes and what comes in the bags. I told my mom about it and she is very interested in going in on this with me, which I am excited about. I am the type of person who packs their lunch every day and cooks dinner about 6 nights a week. So, from what you told me, I think a medium bag would work best. In that case, we may go with the medium bag for the remainder of the season to see how that works and if it's not enough, we can always go to the large.
