FAQ
Will there be food in The Food Play?
Yes. Local Matters, 2 Caterers, and Jeni’s Ice Cream are teaming up to provide a light tasting menu of local suprises and delight.
WIll this be like Food, Inc.? After I saw that movie, I didn’t want to eat for a week.
Oh no! We love to eat! We won’t try to gross you out. But you will leave the show craving real food, and real change, and knowing more about how to find it. {That said, Food Inc. is a great movie and everyone should see it.]
Are you just gonna tell us all to be vegetarians or vegans?
Absolutely not. We will, however, discuss some of many reasons people choose those and other alternative diets.
What will the play be like?
It’ll be a bit like a variety show. Some acting, some music, some comedy, a short movie, special guests, good food, and lots of opportunities to meet your neighbors. Our performance style is a little difficult to describe, though. it might be better just to show you.
Will there be talkbacks with the cast and crew?
Only EVERY night!
The show’s at the North Market? Where?
There’s a big venue upstairs with plenty a tables and chairs, a bar, and a demostration kitchen. It’ll be the perfect setting for this event.
Why does the website say Warren Taylor and other people will be in the show? Will they be acting?
They won’t be acting, but each night a portion of the show will feature a local food luminary talking about their mission and doing a little Q&A.
I heard the show will be different each night.
That’s true. We’re building the show to be highly adaptive. So it will change a bit each night depending on who’s in the crowd, what food Local Matters is serving, and what everyone wants to talk about. It’s a big subject, so the show will have a slightly different focus each night.
Who’s in the cast?
Acacia Duncan, Elena Perantoni, Michelle Schroeder, Ian Short, Matt Slaybaugh, and Michelle Whited are in the show every night. Stage management by Adam Humphrey, Sound by Dave Wallingford, Lights by Lara Wilder.
