Wonderfully done. Ledger was amazing.
I went to go see it again last night, this time in IMAX.
I was a little disappointed, basically because I didn't quite understand what I was getting. To me, IMAX had always meant the domed theaters you typically see at science museums and the like. I had never seen a Hollywood IMAX film.
As it turns out, the domed theaters aren't actually IMAX, I guess they're either called OMNIMAX or IMAX Dome.
But that's my problem, not the film's.
IMAX itself supposedly has a much higher resolution based on the size of the film used etc, but I don't know that I was capable of noticing that on its own. Perhaps side by side, or a back to back comparison would have made it more obvious, but I hadn't seen the movie since opening weekend.
The one thing that did make it worth it, was that it was possible to get a better look at the license plates on the vehicles. I had heard a lot of people complain about the fact that they obviously used Chicago as Gotham City, and that the license plates were Illinois plates. BUT, having gotten a good look at them in IMAX, even though the plates are colored similarly to those from Illinois, they actually say Gotham on them.
Overall, still a good experience. I just don't know that I'll be paying the $3 premium for IMAX any time in the near future.
Wow ... you know a movie is going bigtime when it starts getting theaters repeat business. I went to see it for the first time last weekend because that was the first weekend my free passes were valid for it. Usually that means I have the theater almost all to myself, on one of the last few weekends before a movie stops showing. This time, the house was at least 75% full, and it was definitely worth it. I admit actually being surprised that the rumors that Ledger did a good job basically held up; the last thing I saw him in was "The Brothers Grimm," which was OK but not great.
I finally went to see this and I really liked the action and insanity.
I think that Dkilla looks very similar to Christian Bale---

It's going to generate so much dough.
