CNN wrote When it promised to reopen the bakery, Lance gave all 300 former Archway workers a $1,500 prepaid debit card.
Wow, that's great....
I definitely grew up with Archway Cookies. The oatmeal cookies are AWESOME. As a child, it never occurred to me that they were centered in Ashland.
Anyway, bummer that they closed - great that they re-opened. Though, I am sharing some weariness with MC regarding the debit-cards. I love how money appears out of thin air.....

Did you mean "wariness"?
I actually was pretty impressed that Lance would do that. Certainly they had no obligation to do that and really, i would imagine that most of the workers would just be happy that they have a chance to get their job back.
In addition, it brings them additional goodwill from the community as they bring in new management and restart the bakery.
I truly believe that in the long run treating people well is good business practice.
+1
I thought it was an unnecessary show of good faith that I don't believe a lot of companies would even consider, let alone follow through on.
