I don't think it was inevitable, just owned by the wrong guy. I would never have thought to admit it, but there was something to the bar there. The restaurant just had a poor renovation and lacked any sense of style. The owner really lacked any connection beyond the WW2 generation which sadly was passing on. I think in the right hands the Clarmont would do fine. There are several places that have icon status in Columbus and the Clarmont was one of them. I think some of the young turks in the restaurant business have been handed an opportunity.
