Eddie Bayard star is still rising. Mark Eitzel lived here for a while. Ron House is Done Waiting, not CU, but I might try to lure him into this conversation...
I gotta give the nod to Rahsaan Roland Kirk.

Props to Rusty Bryant and Hank Marr too.
I still got my Godz vinyl (both of them), but no love for the Muff Bros & Money (yikes)?? The RC Mob, New Bomb Turks, I always thought Greenhorn would make it.
Attack! Attack!, sadly.
Ha! I was so tempted, but I just couldn't. Hatethemsomuchithurts!!!

Does Earwig count?
Are Saving Jane and Love Sick Radio up and comers? I saw them at Park Street Festival and at least recognized their music.
Well I think we can all agree that of all the bands listed Attack! Attack! will have the most longevity.
Nancy Wilson (Grammy award winning jazz singer), born in Chillicothe but grew up here. And of course, Chris Howes, arguably the best living jazz violinist in the world. He and I had the same violin teacher as children, although he was always much better than I was. Also, Bizzy Bone of Bone Thugs --he even made them shout out Columbus in one of their songs.
Do you think we could make this stick as a wikipedia page?

Although he was woefully under-appreciated so perhaps he doesn't fit this discussion
Also jazz musicians Hank Marr and Rusty Bryant, who had some national successes although they weren't ever household names.
Let us also not forget that local politician Bill Moss was once a recording artist and producer --his records got some renewed national attention in a high-profile reissue a few years ago.

Bill Moss the former school board member?
Well, there goes my brain.

First time I had the You Tube, I looked up Rahsaan! Thank-you for the post h1! Haven't seen that one before. I hope somebody else finds more of his lost recordings...

That Marion Black song "Who Knows" was huge. I've heard that quite a few times and never knew it was from Columbus.
The fact that Bill Moss was a DJ and music producer actually makes perfect sense to me and explains quite a bit about his personality.
Tim Easton seems to be doing all right...
Howlin' Maggie. Also, their drummer (from Columbus also - Jerome Dillon) went on to Nine Inch Nails from '99-'05.
Here's a good article on Capsoul:
