After reading about the O.A.R. show and that RJD2 just released a new album, I started thinking about other bands & musicians to come from (or form in) Columbus. There doesn't seem to be a list of them that I can find online, so I thought perhaps we could compile something here.
If you had to put together a list of the top 5 bands/musicians that have gone on to achieve the largest amount of national success (however you want to define that), which five would those be?

Which leads me to ask... how long does a band or musician need to be in Columbus to be considered "from" here? Born and raised? Just raised? Band formation here? Hrmm....

I have a memory of Dave Grohl(Nirvana, Foo Fighters, etc) saying when they played here in 2004 that he grew up down the street from the LC. He was born in Warren so I guess it's possible but it kinda sounded like he was playing to the crowd.

A few more than five but it's a start. Of course, it is missing Rahsaan Roland Kirk (Why is there no statue of him anywhere in town???) & Dwight Yoakam.

RC Mob were pretty big in the 80s alt-rock scene.
TNV is pretty hot shit right now and getting bigger.
I'd not call ECC big or "most successful" but "hugely influential" wouldn't be too inaccurate.
