Its official, The Backyard Experience is closing at the end of the year. I need to sell everything I can to get money to pay bills until March, when I will sell my house to pay off the store debt and move home to my parents. Into the same room I left 40 years ago. That's something, isn't it?

I was hoping you could tell me of any and all bulletin boards around town where I can put up a small flyer. Just give me the location and I will get them out there asap.

I do appreciate the support you all have given me in this misadventure. I just need to get thru the next couple of months and then move on.

Thanks for any info about places to put up flyers

My mom loves to shop there and told me about the closing last week. The situation sounds grim, to say the least.

The recession has been tough on small businesses. I know of at least one business in the Short North that will be closing its doors after the holidays. I'm sure there may be others.

I was sorry to hear that this store will be closing. I made a point to do some of my Christmas shopping there.

There is an article that ran in a French magazine L'Express about Clintonville and the recession. The owner of Backyard Experience was profiled in that story.

OH wow, I never knew about this place, and I am in the market for a compost bin, a water barrel, and some bird seed.

Knowing is half the battle, I will need to stop by this weekend to help you sell out your stuff. Had I known about you in the summer, I would have had these items already.

Joan Frederick is going to miss her store's customers, and they will miss her and her little dog, too.

After nine years in business - the first eight pretty successful, the last one nothing short of disastrous - Frederick is forced to pull the plug on the Backyard Experience. The Clintonville resident, at least for now, will be closing the store, 3515 N. High St., as of Dec. 31.
