DJ Mix Battle at Park Street Cantina

Hey everyone! On Tuesday August 14th, 2012, Park Street Cantina is hosting The All Columbus DJ Mix Battle. The event will be held at 491 North Park Street-The Park Street District.

Join us for a night of unforgettable fun and talent. If you love music and having fun then this is a night you do not want to miss!

Featuring 8 of the biggest local DJ talents.
1st place WINS $1000
2nd place WINS $300 (cash & prizes)
3rd place WINS $200 (cash & prizes)
Celebrity Judges
The contest starts at 10pm

I've heard some of Columbus' highly talented and accomplished actual battle dj's have been barred entry into this battle?

So I'm curious why it's even being called a battle in the first place? Allowing entry to dj's who can play the latest Skrillex Gotye mashup on their MacBook's and calling that a "battle" seems disingenuous and wack.

If you read this advertisement closely, it states that 8(Eight) of Columbus's best DJs will compete and/or battle. This is a first come, first serve basis. If there was a DJ that didn't make the cut, it is for that reason only. The event is about positivity and having a good time and we hope that everyone will do just that! Join us to see who will take the crown of Columbus's best DJ. Cheers!

Aside from that, can't see why Columbus' top scratch battle DJs would want in on this. Not going to be the same type of environment they would want to spin at... and I'm sure would get insulted by being asked to stop mid set by the management in charge that night.

1.) $1,000 prize.

and

2. ) many of our top scratch battle DJ's not only do they excel at technical skills such as scratching and juggling, but have also adapted to doing some of the most impressive and talented live club mixing out there.

lol @ "TBA" x 3, I know of at least two dj's who were straight up denied. seems like the CGS really wants a resident from one of their clubs to win.

i'm sure everyone will have a super fun time though, bro dude.

Hey. We are not looking for scratch battle DJs, only DJs with club/bar residencies. Thank you!

This is not a CGS group event. This event is brought on by Mike's Hard Lemonade.

There are no DJs that work for CGS that are in this event. Thank you again for your comments.

Yeah, people refused in a first come first serve situation with three slots not filled seems kind of jinky to me.

And looking at the postcard and the listing, I see CGS all over it, and no mention anywhere of Mike's Hard Lemonade.

But again, that is just me noticing things.

*even though one of the blacklisted dj's DOES have a residency.

If there is a particular DJ that has a residency but did not make the list, it is most likely due to 8 other DJs having already been confirmed, as there are only 8 slots. Thank you again for your comments and I appreciate your feedback, questions and concerns.

Come early and appropriately dressed, (i.e., no athletic attire, including jerseys, pants ball caps must be worn straight forward or straight back, all shirts must have sleeves, no plain white t-shorts, no sagging pants, no holey jeans, and clothing must be clean.

As someone who's participated in MANY of these "DJ Battles", I can attest to their ridiculousness. I still regret even participating in them over the years. The premise of DJ's engaging in a psuedo-battle format, and mixing CD's or using laptops for a 5-10 minute set is basically a mockery of what an actual DJ battle truly is.

Make no mistake, this is a popularity contest, not a DJ battle.

It's no more than a cash grab and promotions tool for the bar/club to get people in the door and for the promoter to make a few bucks via sponsorship (Hi, Mike's Hard Lemonade). The guy with the most friends or is closest buddies with the club owner/promoter wins. Period.

Rigging the contestants is also no new to these events. The fact that these guys are trying to make it look like it's actually a first come-first serve entry format is insulting.

This promoter trying to defer accountability and act like Mike's Hard Lemonade is putting on the event is also ridiculous. THEY ARE A SPONSOR, they don't organize DJ battles or promote club events. Big difference.

Just be honest, people can sniff out B.S. a mile away.

----Sorry you feel that way. But we are trying to make it a legit and fair competition. We just posted a new flyer with the updated DJ list and judges. We sure hope you are not questioning our judges credibility. Please check it out!
