The Bluesfest is a FREE event organized by the Granville Federation for the Appreciation of the Blues. Donations from sponsors, which range from local corporations to blues-loving individuals, help offset some of the costs of putting on the event, which annually brings blues musicians from near and far to play. East Broadway between Main and Prospect streets is closed to traffic, with a stage set up at the west end and a beer tent at the east end. In between, there’s plenty of room to set up lawn chairs, and even to dance. It’s a family-friendly event that draws thousands.
Each year, GFAB designates a local, grassroots organization as the beneficiary of funds raised from sales of food, drink, and T-shirts. This year’s beneficiary is the New Beginnings Domestic Violence Shelter, along with the Granville Music Boosters, which has been a beneficiary of every Bluesfest. Food vendors contribute a portion of their sales to this year’s beneficiaries.
To volunteer, contact Lon Herman at lebicicletta1(at)gmail.com or 740-507-1893. Volunteers do everything from working the beer tent and selling tickets to helping out backstage.
To help support the event, please send donations to GFAB, P.O. Box 194, Granville, Ohio 43023. GFAB is a 501(c)(3) organization, and donations are tax-deductible. Corporate sponsors are especially welcome. For more information about the event, call Tom Carroll at (740) 587-6616, or visit the Web site, www(dot)freewebs.com/hotlicks.
