That lodging looks so nice. I could use a getaway soon. Wonder how many goobers I could round up for a weekend away...
i'm sure us goobers could be rounded up.

Wooooo!!! We got a Lew + 4 goober party happenin' already! I like where this is headin.
I'm almost weepy reading this. You're a great friend and I'm SO looking forward to a road trip visit!
I stayed at the big lodge with a bunch of others last year on Independence Day weekend; wonderful experience. We did a big group meal the first night, breakfasts on Saturday/Sunday, and also took a moonlit hike through the valley (awesome until we had to check one another for ticks at the end... at least 5 per person).
I'd really suggest checking it out.
If you stay at the lodge (I forget the name), be sure to explore the swimming pool down below; I believe it is one of the earliest in America, but now it is almost impossible to see without knowing it is there.
So, I couldn't see the directions, but I think I work not too far away! I work in Greenfield (Highland County) and I think my aunt has a cabin around where you are!
It looked like those links reference that area!
FUN!
Aw bummer
I really enjoyed your nature series. But I'm happy that you are getting to do something you are excited about, The place you are going looks absolutely gorgeous.
I wish you the best of luck!
I'll still be posting here like the plague, no worries.
I'm just geographically further away, gathering data ;)
But it sure would be nice to have some visitors sometime. I can't look at all of this by myself.
10sun, the lodge you described is probably Beechcliff, that's where the little CU group stayed when we visited last year, as well. I do love that place. http://www.highlandssanctuary.org/beechcliff/beechcliff.htm
We'll miss you and your booby-legs.
Can't wait to come visit!
Precisely the place we stayed. That picture really doesn't do it justice though. It is so bright and airy and cozy and comfortable at the same time even with 16 people in the lodge.
I can't say much aside from have fun and hope to make it down a time or two this year.

Can't wait to come visit!I still wear my booby legs shirt!! :)
...
I think this was in the pre-Bear CU era. RoRo and I will model our booby-legs shirts (courtesy of the talented Manatee) for you sometime.
She is a woman of many talents.
When you talked about using thrift store bed linens for the long windowed house you were moving into, I had no idea that you were leaving us!

Well, the silver lining here is that you'll be doing something you are destined to do, you'll blog and keep us in the loop, we have another place to visit, you'll have access to lots of natural foods like stinging nettle and cattail root.
What a great opportunity for you!
