Yeah, not to mention the bad ass martial arts skills it takes to wield a can of paint. I mean that's why they sneak around under the cover of darkness right? Not because they are pathetic punks, but because they're practicing their ninja skills.
Why do I suspect Mr. bad ass tagger would be the first to piss himself and run?

Okay let's get somethin straight.
For all of old ass-floods on here sayin, "I wish i would catch one of them painting in my neighborhood blah blah blah", "They should let the owners of the buildings they paint on kick there ass blah blah blah", SHUT THE FUCK UP because you know if a confrontation were to arise, especially if you confronted a group, shit would go down. And you would be on the receiving end of an ass whoopin. This specifically to the guy who said someone just barely escaped getting a can of paint shoved down there throat, Homie if it were ME, or any other REAL WRITER, you would have got stomped. So PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't make this into a violence thing. Myself and other writers all know this "SEED" character is a TOY, writin on people houses in shit not to mention his tags are garbage but back to the point. The real artist are beautifying the community, not destroying it. And the thought of violence is in no one's mind. However if it must go there, just remember who's been out on the streets more.
lets get something straight alright, i catch anyone painting on my shit im not the one catching an ass beating. ive got plenty of walls, all a motherfucker has to do is ask. ITS MY SHIT STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM IT! DONT DISRESPECT ME AND MY PROPERTY! i take it very personally,VERY!
There's no need for personal insults or threats of personal violence.
Back on topic or this thread is closed.
JEG614, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get a real hobby like model railroads or a girlfriend. Taggers should be drawn and quartered.

I'd like to be directed to graffiti and/or street art that's beautifying the community too.
I follow Unurth and check in occasionally at Luna Park's Flickr Photostream; and while I love a lot of what they post, it's always disappointing to see the kinds of great street art being done in other parts of the world and then compare it to what I typically see around Columbus.
Maybe if you posted some pics or started a blog featuring some of the real artists you mentioned people would be more appreciative of their work and your claims. Is anyone doing that?

Hey, if you consider yourself a guerrilla artist, you're gonna have to live with guerrilla art critics. Quit whining and suck it up.

I dont think he was whining and no one criticized HIS art. He is correct that many of the older generation graffiti artists in Columbus really wouldn't think twice about beating on someone if they really did try to get physical. And these guys (and many of today's) writers weren't just some CCAD dropouts but people who really were from the streets. People with fucked up lives and little to lose who found a release in graffiti. Or a way to get a message across in a society where communication is owned, concentrated, and controlled by so few.
In this city, you do see a LOT of graffiti that would be hard to argue for its artistic merit, but there is some REAL art that was done without permission that does improve the location or gives the viewer something to think about that is out of their daily experience.
I do have pictures going back 15 years if anyone would be interested in seeing them.
I think it's more real and hood to say streetz, bro. Gotta add the z for more credz, you feelz me?

I like well done graffiti Art and I do agree to a point it should be worth pointing something else out. Some of the Graffiti Artist do or have come from the streets. And although the “OG†would not think twice about delivering a beat down. They should remember that they are not the only ones that come from the streets. That being said some people came from the streets and worked their ass off to have a place to live or something they could enjoy. So to all the taggers out there you are not the only ones in Columbus that will deliver beat downs and you should not be so confident because there are far more people that will fight for what they worked for to keep you from screwing their efforts to advance themselves . Don’t be haters just stay off peoples personal property People work for their shit and don’t want it drawn on by a bunch of uneducated shits with a love for profanity and crappy tags. I’m not going to say I hate graffiti because I think some of it’s beautiful but I don’t believe destroying someone’s property is a good way to show it off.
ETA: The other point is there are way more "taggers" than graffiti artist they are like the bag apples in the bag and till you shake them chances are graffiti artist will always be lumped into the same group as the other.
I personally never hit personal property. It's very immature. State and corporate interests where the only things on the list. I just shake my head anytime I see graff on a house. Antagonizing the State and taking money out of the pockets of the corporations it backs is my justification. But when someone works hard for a stagnant or falling wage and has to come home to unintelligible scribbles all over the house he just paid hard-earned money to have painted the 3rd time this year, then that is just plain wrong. Clintonville and N High (the areas with the most graffiti) are working class neighborhoods. What do we writers accomplish by hurting a class that is barely making it?
And please don't think just because someone does graffiti that it makes them "uneducated". My very good friend is an amazing graffiti artist and is a PHD candidate. I am literally from the streets with no formal education, yet that doesn't mean I don't have a firm grasp on political science, philosophy, physics, the arts, economics, world affairs, sociology, etc.

Aren't you also taking money out of the pockets of taxpayers when hitting state/government targets? Their cleanup bill comes from everyone, including those working class folks that you have a semi-soft-spot for.
Am I being accused of misappropriating tax dollars? They can do that all by themselves. The amount of money spent on abatement doesn't even register compared to the next lowest thing on the list where tax payer money is wasted.
Oh, and graffiti is making city jobs for people who could otherwise be unemployed. See the good it does? haha

I'd like to see them, along with some current work.
Perhaps you could set up a blog, Facebook page or Flickr account and share them.

Oh, no doubt. I just thought he was overreacting to an offhand threat that probably just reflected frustration more than anything else, and there was something about the parallel -- street artist, street critic, each using methods outside the law -- that made me less than sympathetic to the complaint.
