Personally, I like Jason Lyman...and I have no idea where he plays anymore. I haven't seen him since him and Doug were doing the Global nights.... I think everyone knows what he plays.
(I would include Doug himself in this, but I had heard that he no longer resides in Columbus...therefore no longer a local DJ)
Tons of others that I love to see play as well, but I just chose the one who has made the biggest impression on me....our styles are very similar.
Moved to "Music" as this is not a "Club or DJ Event".
Jason played a party up in Akron back at the end of April. Not sure about anything other than that. Jason and Doug would have to be my favorites. Although Sparrow and Ororo throw it down at Bentos every week too. They would be my favorite DJs with a weekly.
Actually I know some folks from Cleveland that saw Jason play in Akron. I wish he still played around town somewhere on a regular basis. I would definitely go.
Did he ever have a weekly? I know him and Doug did Quality but I don't think he ever had a weekly gig. Too bad too.
He could probably get a spot at Bristol if he wanted it. I know Titonton plays there atleast once a month and someone else from on here played there a while back. 4cast maybe?
yep...
the monthly rotation for hump wednesdays at bristol goes like this-
1st: titonton
2nd: 4cast
3rd: aus-10
4th: pavlo

Jason Lyman, 4cast, Kevy Kev, Morphunk & Nino, Midislut, Ororo & Sparrow, Titonton, Xavier Mathias, Doughboy, Jeff Pons, Jeffrey Collins, Neil Jaye, Derek Johnson, Alberto, Jondy, Shapeshifter, and many many many more.
Where are they playing?
At venues all over town.
What style of music do they play?
Most of my favorites are house DJs ranging from super funky disco house to deep dark tribal house to minimal tech house, since that's the style of music I'm most into, but I also love switching things up and listening to some trance, some electro, some dnb, and everything in between. It's all good stuff. :D
I only heard Midislut play for about 40 minutes or so that last night at "Empire" or "Emporium" (whatever it was called) down in the Brewery District...he was damn good.
Of course the Portamento guys have been slammin' some good tunes too.
Awwwww... You guys made me blush! I am still here, and alive. And I'm still housing it up.
I did in fact do a weekly(Flavor) along with the Quality shows. I didn't always play every week though.
It's nice to know that some people really dug what we were trying to do with those parties and felt the music we were trying to bring.
That being said, keep your eyes and ears open for something new coming very soon. Doug has moved to Chicago, but that is not going to stop the QUALITY music from coming back to Columbus this summer.
If you like to dance and really boogie down, you will be very happy.
Thanks again for the kind words. I hope to be playing around here again very soon.
The crew they've got going over at Carlile every other Friday is consistently excellent... Dave and Nino know how to play electro house properly (a lot of electro DJs suck), and Boyd has done nothing but impress me since he started playing there. Hell, I've been spending as much time (if not more) upstairs on Fridays than downstairs lately. Definitely my favorite regular night in town.
My boys Aaron Beckett and Code Blue are great as well, I have a blast whenever I spin with them. Aaron's moving to Columbus shortly so look out.
I'm ashamed to say that after over a year here I still haven't seen Quantum spin. Actually, I did catch him at Sugar for awhile but he was playing hip-hop at the time. I'll have to remedy this soon. :)
Jason Allen has so much energy in the booth... he could play a Raffi record and people would go nuts.
Sparrow and Ororo play some great soulful stuff, but the times I've seen them they played way too fast for my taste. I need to start going to their nights... I really don't have an excuse not to, considering it's right down the road. :)
weve got some good stuff going over at carlile on fridays. june 2nd, neil jaye and alberto, aus 10 and guest on the 16th, june 30 we've got Graph (CHC - Cool House Collective, Cleveland), Random(seed) (Tek-Know, Cleveland), Jason Allen (Nightvision, Cleveland)

Nice job on really making Carlile the place to be for dance music and showcasing all sorts of local and regional talent there. PROPS! 8)
I think one of the main elements of Carlile's success is the diversity of music. There are "regular" DJs, but with the rotation...there is always something fresh going on. Plus, when Jason/Mike get added to the mix...HELL YEAH...place will really be bumpin'.
Yeah and also on thursdays there is MYSELF and Aus-10 spinning rotating thursdays.
