My Saturday went from normal to awesome when i drove by Bono pizza and Mario waved at me. Super Game Team. Had my budget been prepared, I could've walked out with an NES console, extra controller, "Mario/Duck Hunt", and "Blades of Steel" for around $60. The Genesis was tempting as well... The dude behind the counter was super cool and infinitely knowledgeable on all things gaming. I can't wait to drive home with a couple Bonos, a vintage console, a few incredibly nostalgic-joy-inducing cartridges and at least two six packs. I'm a simple man.

Last time I was in Cleveland I went to Big Fun on Coventry and contemplated getting a classic NES for $75 bucks. $60 sounds like a fantastic deal!

When we went to Bono last night and saw the guy in the Mario outfit, I thought it was ubercreepy for some reason. Not sure why.
I mean... there's nothing inherently creepy about a guy standing around in a big rubber Mario costume waving at people. But...yeah.

I used to sell vintage games on eBay (passed the business along to my mother). I'd love to stop by and see his brick and mortar setup

Next up is a re-creation on the Nintendo World Championships 1990. We've gotten ahold of a reproduction of the NWC 1990 cartridge, so this will be in the same format as the 1990 event. You'll play Super Mario Bros., Rad Racer and Tetris.
This event is only $5 to enter!
Friday October 1st

Since you mentioned that, there is something unique about this event in that you can come and go as you please. Since it's not a one-on-one event, you can do your practice run, your full run and then leave, or show up late and do it then. We'll cut off the runs at about 8:30 or 9 and see who has the highest score. It wouldn't hurt to be here at the cutoff to receive your prize in person, but we can mail them out as well. The legendary Thor Aackerlund won the 1990 event with a score of 2,809,995. We've been trying to climb out of the 120,000s ourselves.
Since players don't have to be here every second, they can walk over to Bono Pizza, Sparano's or Loops to get something to eat.

One week to go! Now is the time to start thinking about technique. Do you go straight to 3-1 in SMB and do the Koopa stomp thing on the stairs to rack up points? Or do you zip through SMB and Rad Racer to hurry up and get to Tetris where points are 25X?
