Looking for a recomendation for Sunday Brunch somewhere in the Short North/Downtown/Grandview area. I'm running the Half-Marathon and want to take my family and friends someplace close after. I'm not usually a brunch kind of person, but have been to a couple. I know Due Amici has a good one, and cap city as well, but they don't have reservations available when we need them. So I'm looking to you CU foodies. Let's hear em!

Carl and I do Sunday brunch a lot. Betty's is our favorite, but you might have to wait for a table. Surly Girl also has a brunch, and we hit it more frequently than Betty's simply because it's easier to get into. They have everything from french toast to breakfast pizza, with some great roll-ups and biscuits and gravy to round out the choices. Great beverages choices at either, if you wait until after 1:00 (which Carl and I do).
I think Union still has the buffet, and it was good. They made omelettes to order.

Oh, and level has some nice brunch choices, but we haven't been in for that, yet. We've only had burgers and calamari there. They don't appear to busy at brunch time.
And, although we don't hit it as often, Tasi is delish. I don't know why we don't think to go there more -- just creatures of habit, I guess. They don't have as much seating, either, tho, but I've never had trouble getting a table (but I only go there earlier, like breakfast time, with friends -- not me and my hubby's later, before open houses, schedule).

Check this out...there's been tonnnnnns of brunch threads on here.
I've had yums at Tip Top though, and I hear great things about Sage although I haven't gotten to try it yet. :(
I used to love the Banana Bean on Whittier. I know the new location has most of the old brunch items back now, but I'm not sure if its as good as it used to be. That eggs del mar and the bananas foster french toast was stupid good at the old location though.
Like stab yourself with the fork good. And good luck with the marathon!!!

Sage
@ Lew- I was disappointed with Banana Bean's brunch last time I was there. I hate their new combined menu and think the quality has slipped. It feels like a soulless Applebees with a Key West theme. Friday night 'ritas are still a good deal though.

Bummer. I loved the old Whittier space. I had good dinner at the new space one night. There's just none of the comfort and character that was at the old one. I used to wake up on Sunday morning and have the old location programmed in my cell so I could snag a reservation and go back to sleep. I want it baaaaaaaaack!Posted 2 years ago # -
Sage is awesome.
I also agree that BB isn't all it's cracked up to be. I doubt we'll be back. Nothing horrible, just nothing really outstanding either. Not really our kind of atmosphere maybe. ]
Someone was talking about Mojoe on the cap. Mozarts in Clintonville.
+1 to searching. Search for Nick, Maybe breakfast with Nick, he's got a site all about breakfast food.

8 people on the weekend of the marathon? Anyplace you can get reservations at. I agree that Sage would be a great choice.

Sage is great if not quite in the area that you were asking about. At least the construction is done.

Got reservations at Barrio at 11:30. Their dinner is great, so I'm excited to see what they have for Brunch.

Hello Everyone,
For those of you that thinks the Bean has "Slipped" Angie and I's mother has been very ill and it does not only effect your personal life but sometimes it finds its way into your professional one as well, when you own a privatly owned business and not corporate that sometimes will happen. we do appologoze but for now we have to do what we have to do. After our mothers passing and our feet our on more solid ground we will be back and hope the public is understanding enough to let us SLIP right now....as you know we love the Bean and know what it can be but it just has to come second right now...Posted 2 years ago #
