This is awesome. Walked home from the office for lunch today and there were people all over the place, out and about Downtown. :D
Good stuff!

We're having what I call a "1990s Columbus winter". Mild temps, lots of rain and little snow. We'll probably have an annoying ice storm in February and big blizzard in March that will melt in a few days. Just like the '90s.

Loving this weather. Tons of people out walking around today. Just took a stroll up to the Short North and back and bumped into a few friends along the way. Fun!

70 degrees ties a warm-weather record
By Randy Ludlow
The Columbus Dispatch
Wednesday February 29, 2012 5:23 PMLeap Day 2012 is a warm one — one for the record book, in fact. The temperature hit 70 degrees at Port Columbus at 2:23 p.m. today to tie the record high set in 1976. It had been more than three months since the temperature reached or exceeded 70 degrees.

speaking of the sun...
Too bad it's going to get cloudy or there's a *slim* chance we might get to see aurora.
http://www.space.com/14817-geomagnetic-storm-solar-flare-tempest-video.html
The most intense solar flare seen this year is likely to herald a strong geomagnetic storm around Earth on March 8th and 9th 2012, as sunspot cluster AR1429 continues to blast coronal mass ejections (CMEs).

The radiation storm continues after the massive xray flare and cme release the other day. If the skies clear tonight it might be possible to see some aurora looking north on the horizon. Rural areas north of the city lights would have better chance of seeing subtle colors than here in the city, obviously.

A fun day when you get to hang out at both Miranova and Mojoe in weather like this...

I ate lunch at Goodale Park today - lots of people out and about. There were several people sunbathing - it seemed like summer except there were no leaves on the trees.

walked around the pretty waterfalls at Franklin Park. I didn't know those were there, they are really nice.

Couple people eating lunch on the swings along Scioto Mile. And *tons* of people out jogging, walking, pushing strollers, etc.
Gay Street's patios were all filled up both during lunch and early for happy hour around 4pm. Lots of people up and down High Street, jogging, biking, and enjoying the weather. Love days like today that have energy like this. ;)

Winter ends, spring begins with record warmth
By Quan Truong
The Columbus Dispatch
Tuesday March 20, 2012 2:12 PMFollowing torrential rain on Sunday that shattered a century-old record, central Ohio will be rewarded with a stretch of sunshine and 80-degree weather, meteorologists say. The calendar turned to spring early today, with a new record high set in early afternoon. The thermometer reached 82 degrees at Port Columbus shortly before 2 p.m., easily out -distancing the old record of 78 degrees set in 1921. The normal high this time of year is 52 degrees.
