I just got an invite stating that Sugar Bar is closing it's doors forever the July 4th holiday weekend. Anyone heard about this and/or have any ideas what's next for the space?

Wasn't a fan anyway. It was pretty much a fancy Spot Bar (anyone remember Spot Bar) I'd like to see something a little more industrial looking, sort of undergroundish....with a stage for rock bands and dj's (good dj's). Give me something grungy. I'm sure G&C will think of something. They've got a pretty good track record.

The problem with that site is it's contaminated with high levels of S-D-F-D*. It may be decades before the levels of S-D-F-D associated with risks to health are back within safe levels. While short term risks associated with contact to S-D-F-D are limited to nausea, anxiety, loss of hearing and burning in the retinas, long term exposure can be much more severe. Once this area was a pristine site that flourished, catering to unique niches and I'm hoping this is a sign that those time may come again.
*S-D-F-D or super douchey frat dude is a mental disorder characterized by abnormalities in below average cognitive ability, lack of the ability to make real friends, love of cornhole, popped collars, general bad taste, lack of cultural understanding and sensitivity, date rape and sexual abuse

Oh I see, thanks for the clarification. I'd rather have an admittedly douchey bar there than an empty storefront.
