The night before the Super Bowl is also always a couple of days before my bday. So my good friends at the Tree House let me play concert promoter and book some of my favorite local bands.
Cover is $5 - all door money pays the bands for their graciously agreeing to play for us. This event is 21+, of course.
This year's lineup is exciting as all 3 bands are getting their name out and have been getting big on the scene.
Ghost Shirt is... well, you heard of them by now or you don't live within 35 miles of Columbus. They're in The Other Paper. They played the Andyman-a-thon. They had their own Pat Radio special. You know them. They bring it. And then they drink Jameson with you.
The Language our Fathers Forgot is comprised of some friends I've been lucky enough to meet in the past year or so. They are also punching the scene in the face right now with shows all over town and were also a guest at the Andyman-a-thon. A mix of new wave, punk, rock... I'm not even going to do them the disservice of a genre. Just make sure you stick around, they are the night owl band.
The Thrashers are a band I was immediately a fan of. It's about time someone adds some jazzy Rhodes keys to the Columbus scene. Poppy at times, dark at times. Always a breath of fresh air and amazingly talented.
This is my gift to the people. A killer night of local music. So come drink yourself into a Stupor!
