It would bring 3,000 new jobs, 90,000 new visitors to the city and add 300 new hotel rooms.I'd say that steps beyond "making us look cool"
90,000 visitors? what, to see our new, cool railcar that goes up and down high street? 3,000 new jobs? where, besides the rail employees? 300 new hotel rooms? We can't even get a "convention-size" hotel to set up shop here. All because of a rail with limited service? I mean, they DID say 5 years. That's a lot of expansion in 5 years.
Well, I didn't do the study...however, I'm guessing part of that would be a visualized boost to convention business because of the added convenience of being on the line for one thing. That could be a huge selling point for the Bureau in my mind. More and larger conventions=more hotel rooms=more tourist services=more jobs.
