Yeah, I'm as guilty as anyone else for thread gallop here. You're right; should get this back on topic.
On that:
COLUMBUS, Ohio - Residents using generators were asked to contact AEP on Monday.According to AEP officials, generators can cause backfeed on the electric distribution system, creating hazards for line crews as they work to restore power.
Anyone using a generator is asked to call AEP Ohio at 1-800-672-2231 immediately.
Guess whose back, back again. Shady's back tell ya friends. Yea I've worked 3 straight days in Cleveland and didn't have power. Missed a lot.
I cleaned out my fridge yesterday, it's ready and waiting.
And waiting.
For 138,000 without power, it’s Day 5 and waiting

From small towns such as Darbydale to the urban core of Columbus, about 46 percent of the central Ohioans whose electricity was cut off by Friday’s freakish windstorm still await the return of power.

Because I like a reliable power grid. You want random brownouts, rolling blackouts or what have you I suggest moving out of the western world.

AEP has the least-reliable system among the state’s major electrical utilities, according to the most recent reports filed with the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio. The reports measure the frequency and duration of power failures.

What's so frustrating is if I try and report it online, it says call the number. But if I call the number, it says "we're too busy". So in effect they're only taking reports of outages, not hazards unless its actually sparking on the ground. As long as there are no more big wind gusts, it will probably hold. Still, the storm last night had us really worried.
I have pretty much an identical situation in my backyard, and had the same experience. I eventually just repurposed their online form for my own use, noted it wasn't actually an outage but what the details were, and then yesterday I did get a return email with a repair date estimate.

My mom's retirement community, Kensington Place (near North Cassady and I-670 north of Bexley) got power back about 2:00 pm today. It is very bad for senior citizens when the power goes out.

Well, there's your problem...
So, according to the AEP guy that sat in an a/c'd minivan outside our house for hours today, this massive tree that was down was "in their system"... it's just that no one "told them about it," so they just discovered that we don't have power today.
Also, he was sitting there because the line is evidently still hot, and miraculously no one had been killed yet.
No work has been done on it as of yet...
Many of my neighbors left big heaps of stormfall on the curb (mostly silver maple) not in compliance with the yard waste requirement of making bundles. Even if they send a chipper crew, it'll be a bear to pull those heaps apart.

My neighbors still have a tree laying in their backyard crushing their white vinyl picket fence, laying on their deck up against their house and haven't touched it yet? The base of tree is laying in my yard. I wish they would do something with it.
Might suggest they contact Devon Palmer. http://devonpalmer.com/
for those looking for response to hazards, i was able to report one by going to https://aepohio.com/outages/report/ and reporting it as an outage, with no time duration, but with a hazard. they called and asked me about it then sent a crew to inspect it, move a few limbs, and put up caution tape. it's a downed tree with wires stretched to almost breaking, but power is still on. guys were from chillicothe and athens county and don't have power on at home. looked tired and hot. what a mess.
