you know what'd be truly awesome? tomorrow, tim cook comes out, while everyone is still feeling the emotion of this and says "you know what? we're apple. in honor of steve, we're gonna cure cancer. we'll match, dollar for dollar, every donation an individual makes, from our more-than-the-US-govt amounts of cash we have and we're gonna put apple-quality minds to work in apple ways, and we're gonna figure this out."
Wow. Great stuff there, bastard. Wouldn't that be something. Thanks for the post. I'd like to think it might, happen. And who knows...
One of the few things we still have going for us as a nation is our innovation and entrepreneurship. That would be a "moon shot' moment that would spark the fire of people's imaginations.
Worth a read.
Steve Jobs represented the future of this country's skill set.
forget manufacturing, the Chinese can have it.
creativity and problem solving is what this country has.China will never have that.
we need to teach kids in school how to hustle like Steve Jobs, and our future generations will be problem solvers, not problem causers.
Steve Jobs used to say:
"Real artists ship."

Yes and no. We need more people to have the intelligence, drive, and passion of a Steve Jobs.
We don't need more people acting like they invented the iPhone when all they did was build a landing page for a potential rip off of Facebook or Groupon. Once you've invented the hoverboard, I'll let you be an ass. ;-)
This is from the Onion, which (for the few uninitiated we may have in the audience) is a satirical newspaper. Those without sufficiently thick skins should (a) see a dermatologist and (b) not click here:

Steve Jobs was uploaded to the cloud.
It's funny how some celebrities' deaths hit you personally, even when you have no direct connection to them --although, as I mentioned in the hipster thread, I haven't not owned a Mac any time since my Dad bought his first one in 1984.
RIP Steve.

Who do you think owns this country? Not this country. The only thing that is made in the USA, is the actual tag that says Made in the USA. Jobs was a genius, but way overpriced
XKCD has an 'Eternal Flame'
I made a tribute picture and wrote a thank-you to Steve. I’m sharing it at remembersteve@pixt.com. You can do the same by attaching the photo with title in the email subject line and message body for your writings.www.pixt.com/remembersteve
Just got done watching 60 minutes about Steve Jobs. What an absolute DICK!! He didn't think the rules and laws pertained to him. And he always parked in handicapped parking, and he didn't give a shit. DICK!!!!

No, not just private lots. And blatantly drive without licenses plates. Another one of those, "My crap don't stink." And even if it was his own private lot, that makes it right? OMG DICK!!!
Clearly how he drove his car and parked it should be one of the primary factors in determining his character and legacy.
not everyone is warm and fuzzy
I've heard about Steve Jobs temper and his tendency to go off on his employees during the earlier years before he was pushed out of Apple. Probably not the nicest guy but doesn't take away from his accomplishment. He was a visionary and innovator. So what the guy was a dick? Still contributed heck of a lot to the technology world.
