Kasich, coalition of leaders woo Shell

Gov. John Kasich is working to attract another big corporate name to Ohio, and this time he’s getting a little help from both his friends and his sometimes foes. Kasich is pursuing Shell Chemicals’ multibillion-dollar ethane cracker facility, which Shell plans to build in Ohio, West Virginia or Pennsylvania to capitalize on the growing harvest of natural gas from Marcellus shale. The American Chemistry Council estimates that Shell’s new plant would generate 17,000 jobs in chemistry and other industries, as well as $1 billion in wages and $169 million in tax revenue for Ohio.
