Kasich taking State of State on road

Having learned a hard lesson in 2011 about building a narrative and a consensus for major policy initiatives, Gov. John Kasich will deliver his 2012 State of the State address at a successful public elementary school in Steubenville, which is in a region where shale drilling is king.

The state of our state is stabilizing, an annual Dispatch review of key economic indicators shows. “If we think of Ohio as a patient in a hospital, the patient has been moved out of intensive care,” said James W. Brock, an economics professor at Miami University in Oxford.

Good thing the feds helped the automotive industry or Kasich wouldn't be able to take credit for the increase in manufacturing jobs, funny considering his party mates all voted against it, and I am sure he didn't support it either.

Couldn't help but feel we may be seeing a Romney-Kasich ticket in the near future. For many of the issues he has in state, I can't help but think he (or someone like him) may be a good contrast to balance Mitt's "silver spoon up my ass" out of touch personality. Midwest governor; populist, blue collar, salt of the earth rhetoric and claims to that background; towing the GOP line and fighting Washington while using today's speech to call for Ohio legislators to continue coming together.

Kasich is a no-go as VP. He's on record viciously going after fire-fighters, teachers, cops. He doesn't pass the sniff test in Ohio - he'd only harm a Romney ticket.

Mitch Daniels might be a better guy for that role:

Kasich Calls For End Of “Mindless Partisanship”

Governor John Kasich urged lawmakers to put aside mindless partisanship while touting the recovery of Ohio’s manufacturing industry in his annual State of the State address. Kasich gave his annual address in the city of Steubenville because of its top-ranked elementary school Wells Academy.
