As a co-nerd, what have you heard about either the TV show or "episodes 7,8, and 9"???

I haven't heard anything about 7, 8, and 9 (and probably don't expect to anytime soon).
As for the TV show, the live action one I think won't be till late 2009.

I remember reading something a while back where George Lucas said Star Wars is outright done.

Well, he DEFINITELY backed off that, because the TV series is a done deal. In fact, IMDB shows Anthony Daniels attached as 3PO and Williams doing the tunes :D

Last I heard there was a live action tv show in the works and also a cartoon series.
But no episodes 7,8,9.

Yeah, I think Episodes 7, 8, and 9 will not happen. The live-action show and the Clone Wars show are where Lucas' Star Wars efforts are headed.
Speaking of George Lucas' work... Indiana Jones teaser trailer coming this Thursday!

Yeah, I think Episodes 7, 8, and 9 will not happen.
I think the soonest we will see something is after Lucas kicks the bucket.

DVR'ing Good Morning America for this.

The best explanation I ever read about the Sequel Trilogy was in the e-book The Secret History of Star Wars. You'll want to check out Appendix D.

Oooo Star Wars! I'm excited, but the screen shots look a little silly.

I'm a little more excited... but I still would rather see live action and not animation...

hell yeah! I can't wait for this.
I think it looks good. Of course I'm heavily biased to like anything Star Wars related.

If you are a big Star Wars nerd check out these guys podcast: http://www.ihnradio.com/ . The podcasts are also available on itunes. They are pretty entertaining, know just about everything that happens with Star Wars, and they are from Columbus.
They also have a show call The Geek Out where they talk about other topics like movies, technology, comics and anime. This is the one that I listen to and really enjoy. Check it out!

i liked the animated clone wars that came out in 2003, in part because george lucas wasn't overly involved. the creative forces behinds were the nerdlings he helped to inspire a generation ago. i am afraid this will a) rehash the 2003 plot and b) simply not be as good.

thanks for the heads up! I'll give them a listen.
