Hi all,

I have some special friends coming from out of town-- and even though I mostly keep up with what you crazy kids are doing in the city with your nightclubs and whatnots-- does anyone have any suggestions for a nice evening about town for a group of 4 people? Low to mid price point. I'd want to show them new and interesting things, and even though they might be open to drinking, I wouldn't necessarily want the whole evening to be about... ahem... drinking ;) I kid because I love. The evening in question is Tuesday the 28th. Bonus points if we get to see you there!

Maybe park somewhere and do a little walking tour? Show them a few restaurants and other places, maybe in the short north? They could window-shop places and menus without yet committing to go in and sit down.

Hmmm, well, one of them is from Columbus and I used to work with them at Jeni's, so they're familiar with the Short North, and are anxious to see some new stuff. You know, all those restaurants and bars you peeps are always talking about.

The other two would probably just be satisfied with the SN in general, being new to this area.

As far as interesting, they're all lib arts grads as far as I know, and in their twenties, not sure if that helps...

Might try AAB in Grandview; Indian food can be new and interesting to some. Jenni's down the street to reminisce on old times, perhaps. Artsy rock shop in between ( who's name escapes me now and I'm too lazy to look it up ) for some browsing, perhaps.

I'll second Mouton, though the price point might be too high. Burgundy Room could be a nice option.

Dirty Frank's is my favorite for a good/cheap/distinctive combination.

Skillet could be good too. Unless they're like me and seem to have a weird curse that prevents them from ever going ;-)

Even if they are familiar with the short north there are quite a few new places.

Mouton
Bar L'Etranger
Clever Crow
are all within easy walking distance and new/relatively new. Depending on what time you are starting you could check out some of the galleries/stores in between. The Attic is new and Rivet and What the Rock always have new stuff.

Further south Knead is another new place you could take them to.

I guess this is especially meaningful to me because one of my guests may be, ahem, especially important.

I still haven't had Clever Crow so I'd guess I'd better get to steppin'.
