So...
If I were to take someone out on a date here in Columbus....where should we go? Let's start with something special before hand....then dinner....then someplace for a nightcap and or just to chill and look at the stars...
Any thoughts? Thanks!

Maybe a stroll around Franklin Park Conservatory - both inside and out, G. Michaels for dinner and drinks?
Then your place after, duh. ;)
I'm a relatively recent addition to Columbus, but my recommendations so far would be Risby's or Alana's for dinner if you're going for that price range. As for pre-date ideas, strolling around Short North can be a lot of fun if you go do some wine samples at the store (can't remember the name -- 100 under 25 or something?), browse some galleries or the vintage furniture shops. Of course, if you're looking for something a little more special (as the name of your thread would indicate), I would consider the conservatory at Franklin Park. Going to the Wex could be an option -- this really depends on your tastes.
Anyway, I'm sure everyone else will give much better (read: less obvious, typical) ideas. Of course, if you're considering cooking, I can help out with recipes.

then home for some
Dinner @ Tony's, Shakespeare in the Park, nightcap at Barcelona patio, quality naked time.
Let's see, a motorcycle ride over to Columbus Motor Speedway to watch the races. Maybe a couple of dogs afterwards at Dirty Franks or a grilled cheese at the Dube…then a sixer & a doobie for some glow-in-the-dark frisbee at the park & then some skinny dipping at the quarry. A night ride on some back roads to dry off, then cap off the evening in the hot tub. I can only speak for myself though.
I'm pretty lousy at dates where I try to be classy, they usually end badly for me & even worse for my date.
Back patio at Basi for dinner.
Romantical.

Nice cozy atmosphere. Patio is nice if it doesn't rain. Tip your bartender. :)
It occurs to me that this is a great thread for dudes (and ladies) to show off what kind of great dates they can arrange ;)
Best date I ever had in columbus was at Alana's for a girlfriend's birthday.. She was a huge fan of Alana, so I quietly asked the waiter if Alana could step put and say hi to my GF if she wasn't too busy..
What did happen was that Alana came out with a chocolate moose with a lit candle in it and graciously gave us 5 minutes off her time during dinner *and* comped the dessert.
That dinner paid dividends for months btw...
I also recommend just about anything from Pistchia Vera... For best effect serve these *after* the 'special naked time'...
This also has great effect and if the date doesn't work out, you can eat hers..
After doing dinner, I've always thought The Burgundy Room was a great place with the right atmosphere to enjoy a glass or two of wine with a lady friend.

i havnt been on a date in years.... :[
Dudes! Awesome topic! I have a first date tonight. I know I want to go to Franklin Park Conservatory for Cocktails after dinner, but can't decide between Dirty Franks or TipTop?
She is new to columbus, and I love Dirty Franks so far, but is a hot dog really appropriate for a first date? I think the alcoholic slushies class it up a bit, so maybe its a wash? Thoughts?
If a girl can't appreciate the awesomeness that is Dirty Franks, throw her back!
Sherm, I'll take you out! I just can't deliver the happy ending you'd prefer :)
Tip Top, Jerrod. Take her to Tip Top.
