Anyone know what Columbus/Ohio policies would regulate a private BYOB event at a business in regards to the presense of alcohol and hours of operation?
If a business were to have a private party for their employees at the place of business and it were BYOB, would the business be required to have a liquor permit? How liable would the business for making sure no underaged drinking was going on? Also, I think since there would not be admission charged that the party would not fall under the dance hall laws and would not be subject to being closed at 2:15. What about allowing drinking past 2? That should be fine as long as the business is not providing the alcohol, right?
I have never really orgnanized an office party before so I don't know what exactly the business would be liable for and in turn what measures need to be taken for the business. Would be after normal business hours of operation so it would be a closed location and simply a private party. I don't think that it would be any different than having a party in your own home in regards to legality, however I don't know how much more attention it would draw in regards to police enforcing carding and what-not.
