Softshell crab sandwich spots?

Has anyone had a softshell crab sandwich in Cbus recently? I see Bananna Bean had them on the menu last year. I would like to visit a few restaurants that are serving them now, before they are all gone. Any suggestions?

So I wouldn't miss the s.c season altogether, I picked up some primes for $4 at Giant Eagle, and some Jumbo at Weiland's Market for $6. I breaded them with a Creole seasoning mix, deep-fried them, then put them in a kaiser bun with shredded lettuce, beef steak tomato and Creole mayonnaise. They were really tasty.

HI Guys,
Just to let you know that the Bean has Softshell. The Bean on Whittier serves out BLAT which is served with Soft Shell, Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, and two in house sauces. The Bean on GreenLawn serves out Classic Soft Shell Po Boy. If you get a chance to come down let us know that Patient Zero is in the house and we will hook you up!

I had my first Oyster Po' Boy there years ago. A treat for this Midwestern boy, it was.

They had them in May, but are "out of season" for them now. :(

Two softshell crabs from 2 Beans in two hours!

So yeah, to satisfy my craving I first visited Banana Bean on Greenlawn (Beanlawn?). I was greeted warmly by chef Candace, and then by Angie and Natalie. The Island Shandy (mix of Leinenkugel and lemonade) was fitting for the hot day. During lunch Beanlawn has a Po'Boy, which is what I was looking for. It was coated with cornmeal and spices, and was very good. I downed some keylime pie and headed for the next Banana Bean on Whittier (Bhittier?).

So when I arrived at Whittier, it was happy hour, and sandwiches were $2 off. Christie was there to warmly greet me, and brought me a $2 Hemingway (rum, grapefruit juice, and grenadine). Instead of the Po'Boy, I opted for the Softshell BLAT. I have to say this was amazing. I really liked the round kaiser bun, and the avocado mash was an excellent addition to the crab. The sweet potato fries were done just right, soft inside, and lightly crispy outside. So good!
I opted for a $2 margarita, and was stuffed not long after.

So Christie and I chatted about all things Columbus during dinner, and was very content. But I was pleasantly surprised when Banana Bean co owner Jane Ann came out to greet me, give me a "tour", and talk shop a bit.

I've got to say, Banana Bean has incredible food, and employs wonderful people. Recommendations were spot on for softshell crab, and I can't wait to try their fish taco with mango habanero sauce. Jane Ann let me sample the sauce and it's so good.

You hooked me up alright, Elaine!

Do I hear a third Banana Bean is coming to Central Ohio? Keep your eyes open, guys!

Almost a year later.....still searching for great softshell crab sandwiches when they are in season.

Banana Bean Whittier eventually became SKILLET, but the Whittier location is open and selling a tasty sandwich and po'boy.

Flatiron Bar and Grill doesn't have any as of yesterday, but I expect to see them on the menu soon.

Word is Deepwood and Alana's are selling sandwiches right now. :]

The Fish Guys in the North Market were selling them yesterday and today, and this is where I picked up some fresh Blue Crab jumbos and made my own, along with some fingerlings from Greener Grocer.

Designer bun grilled with olive oil and garlic powder, stuffed with a Cajun seasoning encrusted fried crab, lettuce, tomato, onion, avocado, and accompanied with a Creole mayonnaise.

I went to Banana Bean on Greenlawn a couple of weeks ago and they were still on the menu.

I had the crabcake sandwich and it was delicious. Super huge though! Definitely two meals.

There's a Po Boy window at the corner of N High and E Patterson. I never ate there but wanted to. I don't know if they have soft shell crab though. Sorry if this post is completely useless.

Colin excels at beer and food pairings! He can make a beer that I wouldn't ordinarily order compliment food so well that it seems like destiny! He did equally well @ the little pig dinner (thanx to hungry woolf for the link) I really liked the rye that he paired with the skirt steak. That guy is nuts to serve (probably) corn fed cow with corn and polenta (corn) on the side. I don't know if it was an intentional jab at the way we eat but he made it work!
